I need help with booking a hotel!!! I haven''t been to Singapore in 20 years and am going in July for 2 nights. I don''t even know what is a good area to stay but I''m guessing somewhere close to Orchard Street? My budget is around SG$90-120 per night and prefer to be close to an MRT station or be able to walk to places.
Here are the hotels I have so far:
1) Allson Hotel
2) Elizabeth Hotel
3) York Hotel
4) Ibis Bencoolen
5) Robertson Quay Hotel

I''m not looking to party or do nightlife stuff. I want to see the sights and shop a little. Any suggestions on what to do and see in Singapore?

Thanks! I''m so excited about my trip!!

Hello, I think nearest to Orchard Road will be Elizabeth Hotel and York Hotel, just a 5 min walk away to Orchard Road and the train station. However, I doubt that you will be able to get these hotels for your budget though. I believe these hotels should be near the SGD200 range.

The entire stretch of Orchard Road, Raffles City, Vivo City, Chinatown, Little India will be good places to shop. If you have limited time, Orchard Road and Raffles City should be able to keep you occupied with just shopping and eating and more shopping. You might want to visit the night safari if you have time. Will you be shopping for bling while you are here? If so, I would recommend my jeweler, Canary Diamond Co, at Delphi Orchard.

Thanks guys! I''ll see if I can find cheaper rates for York and Elizabeth hotels online. I don''t have much hope to find good deals on bling in Singapore but I''ll definitely be window-shopping!!

I used to live in Singapore, until about 2 weeks ago.

I see you've been given some great advice. I'd definitely check out Orchard Road for some great shopping. The sale is on now and there're some "bargains" (relatively speaking of course

) to be had at all the shops, particularly the designer stores if you're so inclined. Little India is a great shopping area as is Little Arab.

Electronics are also cheaper in S'pore as are I think watches. You're right about diamonds, they're not cheaper than what you can find online.

Check out the museums, they're very interesting and informative.

The Botanical Garden is also a must, though it can get a little hot there.

OOOHHH, you must also check out the local foods, the pepper crab and fish head curry are def TDF!!
