I bought diamond studs from them a couple of months ago. It definitely wasn't the investment that you're going to be getting into but I had a good experience with them. The whole transaction was very smooth and no problems to report. I did the pick your diamonds for the studs and the process was great. I will say that if I was spending as money as you're going to be, I might go with a vendor that I can get pictures of the diamonds before purchase. Blue Nile does have a great return policy but I would like to see pictures before actually buying. BN doesn't actually have any of the diamonds in house, except for the signature line. I'm not saying that makes a bad vendor but I feel better being able to talk to the vendor who can actually look at the diamond and tell me things about it. :)

They have a good return policy and many have had great experiences. If you want a vendor that has the stone in house to inspect and provide pics- then if look elsewhere

Hello all. New to this site, long time lurker... Now that I'm officially looking to get engaged within the next few months I'm looking for a stone to set in a Tacori 2510. I'm looking to go between 1.5 to 1.75. I've found a potential one on Blue Nile site and was wondering if anyone has had experience with them. Thanks in advance.

here is the stone

Not that one, not with that crown/pav combo.

I also had a smooth experience w/ BN but I was buying studs w/ a *much* lower pricetag! Take a look at www.jamesallen.com if you aren't interested in branded stones - they have decent pricepoints and will provide gemologist review & idealscope photo of three stones for free. We can help you search if you want, just post budget and desired specs ::)

Thank you so much for the reply! You actually mentioned my main reason for asking about them being that you can't physically see what you are purchasing before hand. They seem to have the best prices that I've seen so far. I thought about going with the signature line but I'm not so sure it will be worth the price difference of a few thousand. Thanks again for the reply.

Thanks! I'm definitely open to suggestions sense I'm really just beginning my search. Basically I'm looking to spend between 10 to 15k for the stone. Looking for 1.5 to 1.75. My main concerns are size, cut/light performance, whether it's eye clean or not, then color/clarity. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A quick search yielded this one. Just within judget, almost 1.75. Might be worth inquiring about further (put it on hold if you're seriously interested so a lurker doesn't snatch it up).

1.72 I VS2 $14,939

Thanks for the input! quick question? What exactly should I be looking for as far as Table Depth Crown Pav? I take it these characteristics have direct correlation with light performance or cut quality? Please excuse my newbness lol. Also what is the HCA?

You got it! Those four numbers (along with aspects like symmetry) will affect how sparkly, fiery, and scintillating the diamond is. The more ideal that combo of numbers is the more eye catching the diamonds will be. Though there is not just one perfect combination of numbers.

The hca is a quickie evaluation tool to help you narrow down the options in round brilliants. It can be found under the tools tab on the upper right part of the website. It is generally recommended to stick to 2 and under though a 0.7 isn't necessarily better than a 2). It evaluates light performance based on those 4 numbers I listed (which I found on the cert).

There are some great tutorials in the knowledge tab on the website that explain some of the optics of diamonds. They will explain these things better than I can!

The signature line is screened for performance and for being eyeclean. Since the whole point is to get something that is very sparkly and clear when you buy a diamond: I personally think that if you are going to buy from Blue Nile their signature line is worth the investment.

James Allen is another vendor who has good prices.

Also, ID Jewelry will match Blue Nile's price and can usually get great prices on settings (you can ask if they can get you Tacori). I'd call them before buying just to check their prices and see if buying both a stone and the setting from them (assuming they can find it for you) can save you money.

This site is awesome!!! I can't thank you guys enough for the feedback... I guess my next question would be will a I class diamond be ok in a Tacori setting thats said to have G-H diamonds? Will there be a noticable contrast difference you think? That's really a concern I have. I'm thinking I may have to look at a smaller stone to go up in color just to make sure the center and setting don't clash in contrast.

Even if you had the same color there would be contrast because of the way melee diamonds (small one used for pave) perform versus large ones. It will be fine in a Tacori. Plus Tacori uses such UBER tiny melee you won't see COLOR contrast. Just light performance from the difference in size. You'll be fine.

I don't think you would see a difference between an I colored center stone and G/H melee in a setting. Especially if the I is beautifully cut. Those kinds of diamonds often face up whiter than their color grade.

Yup. You'll be fine most likely. I wouldn't drop it size too much. The size range you are in is pretty ideal for most people.

Can you like is to the setting you are wanting?

Sounds Good! Here a link to the setting.

I actually went into Good Old Gold two days ago since it's 10 minutes away from my house and got to see the setting in person with a 1 karat as well as a 1.85. It's amazing in person! Looks much much better with a larger center though for certain! :twirl: :P

looks great- can't wait to see it!

Beautiful setting. Shop around for Tacori prices. Even thought GOG is a great vendor, in my experience for their designer settings and bands they are higher priced than what other vendors might be willing to negotiate down to.

Funny you say that, I actually found a online vendor with the same setting considerably cheaper. My only thing with that is 1, I have no way of versifying if it is a authorized Tacori dealer, and 2 I can't seem to find a phone number to contact Tacori directly to ask questions as far as how their warranty works, setting the stone, and having a ring re sized goes. I'm guessing the only way to contact them is through email. Thanks again for the input
