hi everyone, i am so glad to have found this site, great work. I am a male, wanting to buy myself a round diamond stud ear-ring. I am looking to buy from blue nile, i like certainty so am happy to go with them and the prices on their site aren''t too bad.
Is there any difference in sparkle when comparing these two products:

1. A single loose round diamond, blue nile signature diamond. It is 0.23 carat weight, signature cut, f colour, if clarity, price is 935.00 aud.

2. A perfectly matched pair of round near-colorless diamonds are secured in platinum four-prong settings with comfortable screw-back posts for pierced ears. Each earring weighs roughly 1/8 carat, for a total diamond weight of 1/4 carat. Each earring is 0.125 carrat. H colour, vs2 clarity, good cut, price is 540.00 aud.

So the first is just a loose stone and the second product is a pair of studs, i am happy to buy either one of them, i''m just curious as to how much of a visible difference there is, okay, looking forward to ur replies.
thanx.

I would lean towards the first loose diamond as it will have the cut info provided on the report, you want the sparkliest stud you can get so I would rather find a well cut loose diamond than preset which might not be well cut. It is cut quality which gives a diamond its beauty, so very important to concentrate on that.

Can you post the details of the first diamond please such as depth, table, crown and pavilion angles etc? Also unless you really want IF and F colour you could lower both as long as the cut is great and get a larger diamond if you prefer?

these are the details for the first item:

Depth %: 60.7%

Table %: 57%

Symmetry: Excellent

Polish: Excellent

Girdle: Thin to medium

Culet: None

Fluorescence: None

Measurements: 4.01 x 3.96 x 2.42 mm

need the crown and pavilion angles.

Slightly steeper in the pavilion than I like. Might result in light leakage.

Do you really want to pay that much for a colorless and flawless diamond that you probably can't tell the difference from a G/VS2?

Ditto, that angle combo really needs an Idealscope image, this is an image provided by some vendors that helps to determine light leakage in a diamond. Unfortunately BN do not offer such services.

Would you like some help to try to find a diamond? If you let us know your budget and preferred carat, colour and clarity specs then we can make some suggestions for you?

thanx for the replies. If u could help me with the following i''d really appreciate it, where can i get a round loose stone, 0.10-.15 carrat? I was told that it''s very hard to find a high quality diamond in this size, i have found that to be true, haven''t found a really good one and none with a report. I bought a .10 from israeldiamonds.com and was not happy with it, i can''t believe that there are no fine stones in that range. much appreciated.

No worries, SC and I will have a look to see what is out there for you that might suit you - did you want one that small or would you rather go larger if the budget permits - it might be easier to look at .20 and above? What is your budget by the way?

Good luck.
