Hi guys

Firstly many thanks for all the great info I been able to cobble together from this forum in the last couple of weeks. From not knowing a single thing about diamonds I now know at least what questions to ask - if not exactly sure what to do with the answers.lol.

I''ve been looking for a round stone around 1ct with a G colour, SI clarity most likely to match my budget. Following the information from this site I''d decided to try and find a stone with a HCA between 1-2 and I''ve found one on the excellent James Allen site with a score of 1.4.

Can any of you diamond experts give me your thoughts on the the Sarin report and IS image below? To be honest I''m a bit disappointed that the IS looks so pink but I''m not sure if this is because its a poor performer (despite a decent HCA score) or because its maybe an ''overexposed'' image or whatever.

As I said any thoughts would be welcome

Why don't you list your budget and see if you get some suggestions?

This stone looks nice and it might just be an overexposed photo as the idealscopes vary a bit from magenta to dark red.

the pink is likely because it was the entry level IS and not the pro and the stone is tilted and the light was too strong and the white balance is off.
But its good enough too see its an excellent diamond.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

My budget is $5k (before UK taxes

The IS image is excellent, have no worries! Don''t worry about the pink color, as storm mentioned it is likely due to different equipment from vendor to vendor. Rather focus on the contrast between pink, white, and black and this stone looks great with regard to these aspects.

Lol. I had to look up Thritto
- I don''t think its a word thats made it to Ireland yet :-)

Thanks again for all the advice folks. Its convinced me to go for it if it comes back eye-clean after the visual inspection.

I''m hoping that''ll be the hard work done and that finding a trellis setting in 18k gold will be the less stressful part.

Then again I''m sure the proposal won''t exactly be stress free either.lol.

So a really great stone that attracted 20 comments in agreement could get a dodecaditto! Cool!

Just a little bit of photoshop and the color and crispness is better. It is a bit of a tilted image, but quite a nice one.

Hey thanks Dave!

That does look a lot better. Now that I know that its the contrast between the colours thats important (thanks kcoursolle
