Anxious and need help- international shipping AU to US

Hi all,
I bought a beautiful engagement ring from Brian Gavin 5 years ago and sent to Australia.
I now need to buy the matching wedding band and I need to send the ring back to the US.
BG have instructed me to use their account to send it back. I've called fedex and they've said that they only insure up to the value of $1000USD. My ring cost me $12000 USD 5 years ago so I'm sure it worth a lot more now and I couldn't afford to replace it if anything happened.
I'm sure someone on here has gone down this path, please advise me on the best plan of action as I'm very nervous about sending it back.
Should I get 3rd party insurance or is this covered by BG as I'm using their account. Can anyone advise of a good insurance company in Australia?
Do you trust FedEx?

I would contact BGD. I'm sure they will insure it for you, just like they have sent a label for shipping. I have done this many times via GOG, OWD JbG and VC. Each time my diamond or jewellery item was insured by them on my behalf and they sent me a label to post via fedex.

Should be straight forward.

If your using their account just put the correct value of your item. When I upgraded my diamond I did this and that was $30 plus thousand. It will be insured for the amount you stipulate and I do trust FedEx have had many parcels of large value in the last two years. They are able to insure at a higher value due to their account/company, individuals cant. This is my understanding atleast, if unsure just contact Lesley and Im sure she can explain must better than I.

The only way you can do it is by shipping it in reverse, they send you a label to stick on the box and use US FedEx ask them to cover the insurance and probably they might have to pay for shipping too and you pay them back, ask Brian Gavin to do it under their account. If you use Aussie FedEx they will not ensure jewellery ever.

The only other way to do it is via Brinks or Malca Almit and it cost an absolute fortune. Or find someone going over that can take it to the US for you.

Why do you need to even send the ring anywhere if you are getting a band?

They just want to make sure that all the measurements line up as they used different sized side stones for my ring.
