I have little to no information about this watch.

All I know is that it is platinum and diamond and is hand engraved. It was a christmas present from my father to my mother and they were wondering if there was anything to know about it. My father paid 2k for it and was wondering on approximate value and an estimate of when it was made.

Thanks

Mmm, I love vintage watches! Blued steel hands, great Deco engraving, and black cord strap: I'd guess 1920s. To get a value, take it to an appraiser experienced in antique jewelry.

ETA: Value also depends on stuff we can't see in pictures: whether the movement is in good condition and is original, provenance if any, if it has any original things with it like original box etc, so I doubt you'll get any guesstimates re: value on a forum (who knows though- I could be wrong.) Tiffany's itself could perhaps help you out in dating and appraising it, too.

Thanks.. we might bring it to Tiffany's in new york next time we visit for an appraisal which should be in the next month or so

Oh, I love that! It''s beautiful!

I think it is beautiful too. Congratulations on the find.

Unless you need it for insurance purposes I would not get it appraised.
If it appraises for less than $2K you'll feel bad, but so what? You love it and it is beautiful. (assuming you can't return it)
If it appraises for more than $2K that doesn't mean too much either - I've bought diamonds from PS vendors and was astonished that they came with "independent appraisals" for far more the price I had just paid but I learned that if I needed to sell the diamond I'd get far less than I just paid.

Sorry, but after that experience it is hard for me to take appraisals seriously.

The watch has all the elements of a watch made in late teens early 1920s...a real classic!

I believe I read on the Tiffany site that they won''t appraise watches over a certain age. So you might want to check on that before you make a trip to Tiffany''s. The watch is very pretty!

From the pics it looks like a beatiful watch. Hoping Tiff''s will aprraise it.

Well, not adding anything new, but from the style of the watch and the engraved monogram on the back it's early 1920s. Charleston, flappers and all that. Very apt, given the similarities between now and 1929.

It's also a very pretty watch - I hope the movement is in good shape; they can be a bit temperamental and hard to repair. Value-wise, as others have said, it depends on the movement's conditions and originality, but it's visually very appealing and it has a great name.

The engraving around the edge of the watch looks really pretty. Hopefully an appraiser can give you a good estimate on it.
