I''m getting an art deco/edwardian platinum ring, and I don''t have it in person yet, but I saw it in person, and now I''m looking at the zoomed in pictures and I think that there might have been milgrain on the original ring, but it''s worn off after so much use. Should I ask the jeweler to redefine the milgrain? I''m already having them polish it, and I do trust this particular jeweler having seen his handwork in person.

Should I mess with it, or will I be sorrrry? Is reversing milgrain a pain in the ass?

Sorry, for some reason my other poll didn''t work. Opinions sought!

Hi Seemlygeo,

Do you have any pictures of your ring you could post?
It's hard to say what to do, because I'm not sure what it looks like.

As far as I know, getting millgraining is easier than having it polished out again.

I can see the faintest amount of milgrain on the right side.

That is really a beautiful a ring.

Thanks for the pic!

If it was me, I'd have the millgraining re-done because I think the linearity of the smooth polished metal subtracts from the delicate lacy Edwardian feel of the peice.

here is a ring similar to yours with millgraining so you can see what it would look like.

Cheers!

Thanks! I think so!

Yes, we did end up getting the milgraining redone. I''m so excited to see it in person.
