Antique Diamond Mark-Ups-a 7 ct Antique Stone the same price as a 10 ct Antique Style Stone?!

I just noticed today that one of my fave old cut vendors has a 7.10 ct K/ VS Old Mine Cut priced similarly to a 10.96 ct K/VS Antique Style Cushion!

I always knew that there was a mark-up for antique stones, but this seems like a significant price disparity to me.

Anyone else noticing similar trends or has it always been this way?

Curiously to hear what people have to say-is this a function of this color and carat size, specifically? I hope some trade members will chime in.

It’s funny because I still feel like antiques are a niche so it’s a weird place to see price hiking? Like the payoff can’t be huge in terms of volume.

I’ve only been watching a watching prices for four years and have definitely noticed mark-ups.

I just never realized how much of a differential there was until I saw the two listings today!

oh yeah HUGE difference between modern and euro cut labs.

I don't know in this example though where they are consignment pieces and it may depend on what the person consigning is trying to get out of it?

I get the sense that Grace owns the two 7 cts but maybe the 10 ct is a consignment.

I’m sad though that the Edwardian setting one of them was in is no longer in the picture… that setting was incredible

I’m guessing your right Lulu… I bet the 7ct pair were from Graces PC. She had a pair of huge studs at one time, I wonder if these were it?

@lavenderdragonfly23 Grace did have studs that she sold-the Olsen twins-but I *think* those were five cts each.
