Yesterday, my boyfriend and I received a call from (P) - he had bought a ring for his girlfriend, (F)!!!

They had been dating for 4 years and they are one of our favorite couples to hang out with. I am genuinely excited for them and I''m soooo happy for (F).

Anyway, the reason (P) had called is because he had purchased the ring from out-of-state and was having it shipped. And since (P) and (F) live together, he didn''t want them to deliver it to their house.

...so he is having it shipped to our apartment. He didn''t even ask us first! I guess he had to give the jeweler an address quickly, and he knew our address and trusted us enough to receive it.

The thing is, he really should have asked us first, because we live in an apartment building where the front office holds packages for us. Usually, by the time we get home from work, the office is closed and we need to wait for the weekend to pick it up.

And since (P) wants the ring right away (who wouldn''t?), I will have to race home after work today to pick up the ring for him.

Men! Always thinking ahead...

(P.S. - is it bad that I''m tempted to open the box myself? Of course I wouldn''t, but I''m so tempted!)

To bad you can''t steam open boxes like you can letters.....not that I have ever done it....

I was thinking the EXACT same thing as soon as you said the package was coming to you

Maybe you can tell him you get to see it first to "compensate" you for your trouble!! haha

Good luck resisting temptation!! That would be SO hard!

At the very least, he should open the box in your presence so you can ooohh and aahhhh over the sparkly!

maybe u can say the box got somewhat opened in shipment and u checked to make sure it was in there

Arghhh so there was an accident on my way home so I didn''t get home in time.

But I did see both (P) and (F) yesterday at a dinner party, and (P) seemed unfazed that the ring is sitting unclaimed in an empty office.

He just said, "Well I guess we''ll have to wait until the office opens then. I''m not planning on proposing until next week so it''s okay." and just went on. How could he do that? How?!? I would be trying to pick the lock or something...

Anyway, since I''ll be out most of the day today, my boyfriend will be picking up the ring. I guess I won''t be able to see it until after the proposal.
