Since Dee*jay posted up the question about wearing frumpy clothes in public, I''d thought I''d ask the opposite! (I''m so bored today...and I LOVE talking fashion

)

EXCLUDING JEWELRY- - - Is there anything you like to wear in public because you KNOW you look really great in it? (or it just might be your favorite item to wear...)

Or

If you don''t have a favorite outfit yet but there''s a something you really would like to buy and wear this season, what would that be? It''s getting cold fast.......time to shop!

I love wearing high heels. Almost every day. I''m 5''8 and you''ll never ever catch me wearing flats (unless you count sneakers.)
Most all my shoes are 2" lowest, predominately 3" and quite the handful taller. I work in a professional environment and I love love love shoes. I find that being tall-er makes me more confident when dealing with the management setting.

It''s actually a fashion don''t but I dress sort of classic conservative, maybe lean a little on the 1930''s 40''s era of cinched skinny belts, pencil skirts, long strand of pearls, pinstripe, puffy sleeves, etc. but my shoes are probably too ''sexy'' for work. I don''t care - I adore shoes!

This falls into the "I don''t know if it looks good but I love to wear it" category. Last season I bought a Jones New York black wool "cape" with a tiny bit of rabbit fur trim on the edges. It actually has a button up near the neck so it stays closed without any hassle (which is my problem with capes/shawls that just drape over your shoulder) and it sways in such a fun way when I move!

jeans are probably my favorite thing to wear which i know i look good in, the RIGHT jeans can make an outfit. i love how you can dress up or dress down jeans, they are so versatile. a black flowing spaghetti strap top and the right jeans and black sexy heels and you're out on the town. or be conservative for work in boots with the same jeans and a layered button down/vest combo. also i have a nice butt (hee!) so jeans really emphasize that. plus they make you look taller whether or not you wear heels (i only like 2.5" heels really...i'm tall enough where i don't need higher) and make you look longer and leaner with the right cut. so just all around a positive thing..jeans. yum.

I second Mara with the jeans!

But, I REALLY dig my short red trenchcoat. I picked it up on clearance at Loehmann''s 2 winters ago, and it still looks sharp today! It''s my "winter" staple (I live in S.Cal)

I wear sweaters and jeans ... I also have a really really nice pea coat jacket that I got from Talbots last year and I know that it looks good...

Oh Starset! I would love to go shoe shopping with you! I am the biggest shoe whore ever. I have about 70 pairs all neatly packed away in those clear shoe boxes from the Container store. Gotta love those containers! Keeps all my shoes visible for the picking and organized! I have them all stacked up against one wall in my daughter''s room. I had to put it there since I don''t have room in my bedroom or closet.

I looove wearing a pair of black leather heeled boots with a somewhat pointy toe. They look amazing with jeans and make me feel great. Pair it with a slim black turtleneck and pearl earrings and I''m "sophisticated," pair it with a black halter top and dangly silver earrings and I''m ready for dancing, it''s a great staple in my closet. It''s always nice to have that one thing that makes you feel really good.

My latest rule for myself is only purchase things that make me feel amazingly fabulous. Back when I had no notion of saving money long term, I bought stuff just because I could wear it sometime, but I have gotten judicious to the point where if it doesn''t look amazing, I can''t be talked into it.

But all that aside, I am in love with

Any pair of Citizens jeans I have aquired in the past 2 years.

Knee length skirts

My grey express publicist pants. When I put them on, I didn''t even have to look in the mirror to know they were perfect. Those pants were made for my body. It kills me they only come in 3 colors (and that the black and chocolate ones don''t fit me quite the same)

Well, I have two wardrobes basically. I have my ''mommy clothes''...stuff that it doesn''t matter if something spills on it or I get baby food on it and my ''out'' clothes...since I don''t go out a lot, I can buy something really nice to wear out. I have been buying more fitted tops and jeans since I finally lost all of my baby weight for the first time in over three years. I got a really pretty purple Dana Buchman sweater set that I love. Although I haven''t worn it yet, I love it. It is really soft and I know the color flatters me. I will probably wear it with some white pants because it is more springy. I also bought a Dana Buchman ''sweatsuit'' that is white and has embroidered flowers on it. I know white doesn''t usually make you look thinner but for some reason, it seems to.

As far as jeans, I was ripping my hair out trying to find something cute that fit me right and was kind of trendy. I finally decided to get some levi''s. I found the style that fits me well and I live in them. I got one pair of trendy cute jeans from Oililly. I found a lot of cute tops there too.

What do I feel great in? I guess the more fitted tops and pants. This time last year after my daughter was born, I was ALL about comfort. I had found some great warm comfy shirts at JJILL and I lived in those all winter. But I can''t say they looked all that attractive.

HI:

I always feel like a million bucks when I wear my Prada (outdoor) coat and D & G dresses/suits. Impeccable tailoring gets (to) me everytime. That and good quality cashmere sweaters--they are functional as they are elegant.

cheers--Sharon

I absolutely love getting dressed in the morning. My company is pretty flexible with their dress code so I always have fun mixing things up a bit.

My favorite out fit at the moment is a pair of skinny skinny jeans (jbrand 10"), my Prada tartain plain 4" heels and a solid color gypsey blouse. Topped off with my python print trench coat that I love. For some reason I feel great in this outfit, I think it''s the heels that do it for me.

I have these lovely Manolo Blahnik high-heeled Mary Janes that really make my day when I wear them. Unfortunately I can''t actually *walk* when I am wearing them, so those shoes don''t come out too often!

I''m a firm believer that great jewelry, outerwear, shoes and a bag really make the outfit.

hahaha I SO met the right people in this forum....
so enthusiastic about jewelry and clothing

Well, I haven''t answered my questions yet...so...

I have so many clothes that it overflows my closet now! I esp love shopping for my weekend/night/party wear because I like to feel glammed up. Work I don''t get so excited about and I probably would be more excited if my office wasn''t so strict and I could accessorize the way I want...but I can''t, so I have to play dress up on my weeknights and weekends

BUT nevertheless....I''m a shopacholic and I''m really loving the latest trends available in a lot of stores this season.
I love babydoll dresses because they really accentuate my figure and make my legs look longer than what they really are (when paired with nice tall wedges or heels).
I''ve been especially loving the doll dresses with the hidden pocket- SO CUTE! Hidden pockets are really big this fall- has anyone checked out BCBG''s fall lines? GORGEOUS!

I also love skinny jeans. Express fits me nicely and I love how I''m a size 0 in express..LOL that made my day when I found that out! (I''m really a 2 or 3 in regular brands). But their selection of skinny jeans is really nice and the waist is low like I like. As many of you have already meationed, jeans can be paired with anything. I wear them with everything and they go with any types of shoes.

I really need to go out and get some items to spruce up my winter work look....haven''t had a chance yet. I''d like to get a few more sweaters (looooong sweaters are my favorite! when they hit mid-thigh and can extend past my wrists a little, they feel the most comfortable!) and I REALLLLLY want to buy a new pair of black leather boots (I broke the heel of my favorite Guess pair from last winter cuz I wore them so much
face14.gif
).

Great responses everyone! I''m loving the suggestions and I''ll have to check out some of these jeans brands you all are in love with! It''s so hard to find good ones.....

keep ''em coming!
