Our 25th is approaching and I would like to get a present for my wife. She is interested in a ring with three stones. A center stone around 2 carats and two 1 carat side stones all oval. She saw a GIA stone at a store that also appeared to be on the pricescope search:

2.26 H SI1 65.1% 57% GIA tn-vtk no vg gd ft 10.03x7.24x4.71 $6249 $14122*SP

My wife says that it looks great but unlike a round I can''t use the cut advisor. Polish is good, symetry very good, faint fluorescance. The local price is $20,750. What do you folks think of this stone? Does it seem reasonable to put together a beautiful ring as described for $25,000 or less?

Thanks,
David

Hi David

Ovals can vary tremendously in shape and appearance so if you wife likes it that is a start. You are right, the HCA only works for rounds. I don't know if for that budget it will cover that diamond, a setting and 2 1 carat side stones as the sides alone at that size will not be cheap. Have you looked online at all? What is the price on the PS search?

It might be worth contacting Jon at www.goodoldgold.com and having a chat with him, he might be able to help you. He is great with fancy shapes.

Also try Todd at www.niceice.com who also has a superb eye for fancies.

Lorelei,

We haven''t contacted the vendor for the exact pricescope discount off of the listed search price is $14,122. I was hoping to have a bit more info before we called. The stone
is at a store about an hour from my house. They have the stone on loan and I either have to drive tomorrow to see it or it will be gone before I can get back to them.

Just to check, the diamond you are interested in is $14122 Pricescope price and the same stone is priced at $20750 at the store where it is loaned? If you like the diamond I would ask a PS vendor to call it in and get it for the much lower price.

You can''t go wrong with Todd at NiceIce. Todd has an incredible eye.
Also.... make sure you look at ASET pictures before making a decision.

Sugardiamonds

If a PS vendor can call it up, I''d call a place that can do ASET pictures for you like GOG or WF or some other place that I may not be aware of who does this service.
