Hi,

Pricescope helped me pick out a diamond for her engagement ring. Please help me make this happen so my wife can get earrings in time for our one year anniversary. The more I research the more confuse I get. I need some objectivity.

These are all GIA certified and have no florescence. There’s a price range from $3685 - $5197. Please take into consideration that each diamond will be around .75 carats. In general, is there less color sensitivity for diamonds for earrings then say for a ring? An I-color engagement ring would not look very white to the eye. I would like to get the most bang (size, brilliance, color, etc.) for the buck. ALSO, can I get anything better than what I’ve found for the price. I would like to pay with credit card.

Here are some choices; which one would you go for and why? Which one to scratch off the list?

will need the crown and pavilion angles to judge the cut of the stone.

Well-cut I stones will look white when set into earrings. H/I color stones are perfect for earrings. Mine are F and the color seems a bit overkill. I could have saved $ and/or purchased larger stones had I gone down to an I.

Hi,

Here are stats with the angles and some minor corrections (refer to this post):

Hey MC,

Do you think H/I, SI1 is still white enough and clear enough for earrings? It''s around .75%, it''ll be hard to see any clouds right? Sometimes, she''s a picky girl.

Set 1, 5, 6, 7 looks safe from the numbers.

Prefer #1.

Thanks for your help. I see you used the Cut Advisor tool. The closer the numbers are to zero the better?

I, SI -> Will this look yellow and cloudy to the eye like it would for an engagement ring diamond? I would like to set it in platinum. Would setting it in white gold make it appear whiter?

On the HCA, score below a 2 is worth considering. For a earring, you can go into shallower pavilion proportion.

I/SI1 should be fine if well cut and eye-clean.

No, the aim is to score below 2 as a first round elimination tool, a lower score isn''t better than a higher one.

Yes, I think well-cut H/I will be white enough. . .if you''re concerned, possibly go for a G or H. What is her eng. ring?

For chubby (but not droopy) earlobes, what is better? 4-prong basket or 3-prong martini?

Many on here prefer the martini style, but if you do a search, you''ll get lots of differing opinions.

I have 3 prong martini''s, and I find they sit so well on my lobe. I don''t like to wear them tight/really pushed in, and they still don''t droop, which my previous 4 prong baskets did.

Awww, you''re a sweet hubby. Your wife is a lucky gal.

H/I colour are plenty white for earrings. I have J colour 2.3ct each earrings and they face up very white.

I can tell you that my 4 prong baskets droop! I hate it! Sometimes I have them on so tight they are pulling the backs
through my earring hole (not good). I would go for the martinis. Can go wrong with a good martini right???
