Analysis paralysis - platinum alloy - please help ASAP!

Please help!

I have to make a decision ASAP whether to go with Pt 900/Ir or Pt950/Ru for a cast ring.
The vendor (DK) says he can do either but that Ru will be more durable.

This is what I have gathered from internet research:

Pros of 900/Ir:
- Nicer colour (I find a lot of rings I try on to be quite dark grey and I think those ones are made with Ru eg. Tiffany)
- Might take on a slightly more buttery polish?
- Supposed to be easier to cast - less brittle, less prone to cracking?
- Favoured by some eg. Mark Morrell

Pros of 950/Ru:
- Harder
- Possibly easier maintenance down the road if I take it somewhere that can only work with this alloy rather than Pt900?
- Favoured by others eg. Tiffany, Leon Mege

Can anyone please help me make a decision!

Ps. Here's the cad if that helps. Ignore the 2-tone, that was an error. With the Ru option I'm mostly concerned about whether the gallery/prongs would be brittle?

I think really you could choose either -- they are both great options -- if one is less expensive than the other, if most of your rings are one of the alloys, if you flip a coin -- honestly they both will perform and endure and look very similar

Here's a good example of colour differences I often notice when trying on rings in stores.

The engraved band is my wedding ring which is stamped PLAT. I've asked the people who made it to clarify the alloy they used but haven't heard back. The diamond ring is described as "platinum", the sales associates don't know anything further.

My wedding band always shows up a lot creamier to my eyes.

Which does the person making the ring have more experience with and or prefer working with?
There are tricks to working with different alloys so going with the one they are most comfortable with makes a lot of sense.

I can't speak to the different alloys but DK just made a ring for me that's two tone - yellow gold and platinum. To my eyes, the platinum is neither greyish or warm like the pictures above. Just a beautiful white. I posted a thread about it if you're interested to see. I'm sure whichever you go with will be beautiful!

Also legally in the US.. PLAT = 950
900 is required to be marked as 900.
Not that everyone follows the laws but it gives a starting point.
In the US 950 ru or ir is common and overseas 950 cobalt is seen a lot. Plat Ru is outlawed in some parts of Europe due to dangers during the casting stage from the fumes.

They say either is fine and they've used both in the past. The downfall of having such an accommodating vendor is the burden of choice!

Thank you! Lol, that's why I love LGD, it makes big sparklies more attainable. Perhaps you can glance at the different rings DK made via his Instagram page to see if there is a platinum color you like and go from there. Hope you come to happy a decision soon! Custom rings are so beautiful and special but sometimes it hard to decide on all the details. Seems like it'll be beautiful either way. Looking forward to seeing the final piece!
