Would anyone have an idea of the value of these gems? I need to get them appraised but at the moment money is tight and I'm just curious. I had the certificates but lost them a long time ago. The big one is 260 ct. The smaller ones are 8. And 9ct. Certificate said all were vvs. Untreated. Amethyst is not a valuable gem, especially if you intend to sell. If you intend to sell them, a lab report would be ideal since there is a ton of synthetic amethyst on the market.

Actually large Siberian Amethysts and US Amethysts that are top colours sell for what I consider expensive prices, so some Amethysts can be expensive, but most are not. It will depend on the origin and colour of your stone/s.

Amethysts are inexpensive. These are probably worth a few hundred dollars. I wouldn't waste money getting them appraised.

Amethyst has a reputation for its finest purple & too much history so you may find some very fine jewelry set with such stones - & they still have no price to speak of.

These are the highest prieces I can think of & the reason is the cut - WWW . You might argue that yours are worth as much because of their color - if natural.

On the secondary market, they don’t sell for much despite the beauty. You really have to be a retailer that sells to collectors or someone looking for an amethyst.

I would say they aren't worth much, and if money is tight I wouldn't bother getting them appraised bc they won't have a ton of value

I paid through the nose for this as I fell in love it ever since I saw it listed in Richard Homer's site, concave cut by RH himself.
I keep telling myself it is worth it to this day.

Amethyst is my birthstone and this stone and ring was my 50th birthday present to myself. I used the money I was given by friends and family towards the stone.

Unfortunately while Amethyst is a beautiful gemstone it is also common and there is also a lot of man made material around. Larger size Amethyst is rarer but your lovely 260 ct piece is probably too large to set into jewellery so that makes it more a collectors gem. Are the certificates from well know labs? Unfortunately many Indian and Asian region labs aren’t considered reliable, some are actual “fake” certificates, which is why most buyers either want to pay a few dollars a carat or see a well known reputable lab report.

I have a large amethyst stone with a halo setting. I paid what I thought was a small fortune years ago. I would like to get it appraised- I hope it’s a legit stone, but probably won’t do it. It was a “dream ring” for me. Along with a ruby stone that I still don’t have yet.
