Americo or Art-Tec Jewelry Designs?

I am in love with a french cut eternity band that I saw in a store in San Francisco, and is made by Saturn Jewels in NYC. The ring was $5-6K in the store which I thought was crazy, and so I called Saturn this morning (I live in NYC) and spoke with David, the owner. Apparently they don't sell directly to customers, but he suggested that I call and make an appointment with Americo (?) (apparently the name of the store and owner) at 64 West 48th Street. When I googled "Americo" nothing came up, and when I googled the address I got something called Art-Tec Jewelry Design that doesn't have a website.

Is anyone familliar with any of these names/businesses? I'm feeling a little weird about it all...

If nobody has heard of this person, could someone advise to how I can proceed with caution?

I have an appointment with Americo on Monday, and Saturn Jewels is going to give him the ring to show to me. If I like it, I can order one to be made in my size that I will buy through Americo.

What should be my process here? I know that Saturn has a good reputation, but I am feeling a little bit nervous about buying through someone that I've never heard of, and can't find any information about (though David from Saturn obviously trusts him). Would I order the ring and make the sale contingent on getting it appraised by a third party? Any other precautions that I should take? Help!

Will you have to pay the cost of the ring up front? You could always call and confirm with Saturn that they did in fact fill your order before you pay and pick up the ring, and of course you will want to have it appraised for your insurance anyway. I think that once you meet with Americo you will have a better idea of whether or not you want to proceed with them.
