I know that's going to be next, because I swear, what's left?

What they are charging for...$8 for blankets. Pillows were already done away with. I guess people don't care for their grotty blankets anyway, so this won't be a big deal?

Hm...so we pay for baggage, snacks, movies. I bet water is next. And they'll charge $.25 for use of the loo. Paying for carry on is next too, for sure...

ETA, oops, meant to post this in hangout. Ah well...probably pertinent here since so many of us fly with our families.

The other airlines have been doing this for a while now. When I went to Vegas in May 09 I asked for a blanket because I was freezing and they said it would be $7.

Ridiculous. I have not flown much (domestically) since all these ridiculous surcharges have come into play--and it''s making me feel alot less guilty about going no where most of the time! With kids I can imagine how it''ll add up (if you have to check in stroller, bring on various gear not to mention liquids). And I actually always use the blanket b/c I''m one of those people who is always cold. Great another thing to stuff in my carry on!

Meanwhile, thanks to those new-fangled scanners at security, they get to see me naked for free.

What is this world coming to??????

re paying for the blanket... i always carry a huge pashmina-like scarf with me when i travel, it''s very warm and soft and it''s mine/free! plus then when it''s done being blanket, it is a scarf or a shawl.

I haven''t flown in 10 yrs. Looks like it''ll be quite a while longer!! I can imagine standing in line at the restroom and purchasing TP by the square....Meanwhile, there''s a creepy looking guy in a trench coat who flashes you lovely rolls of 2-ply.

And my friend from college who is a flight attendant wonders why the airport was not packed on Thanksgiving????? I told her it was too expensive (I usually fly out but I didn't this year because of the prices) and she said, "Won't people go home no matter what?" Clearly she didn't get it. I wonder if that is the mentally of the airline excutives. "Oh, less people are flying and demand is down....lets raise prices!!" That really doesn't follow the rules of supply and demand.

Well, I am screwed because I live in Texas and my wedding is in California. So I will be doing lots of flying. I try to stick with Southwest to avoid this crap.

I don''t fly a lot but if I did I''d be pretty disgruntled about getting nickel''d and dimed to death. SS, very funny re. trench coat guy with 2-ply!

I''m STILL peeved every time I see on my Orbitz confirmation page: Some airlines have fees for checked baggage.

They''re charging for everything, prices are higher, flights still don''t arrive or depart on time, seats are just as cramped as before..... I want to go back to the days of trains. That or skip ahead a thousand years or so and hope they''ve figured out teleportation by then

ditto- I have a travel "woobie" (pashmina) that doesn''t leave my suitcase

can''t remember the last time I used a yucky airline blanket- even in 1st class/business

Now we have a real use for the snuggie! lol

Hmmm we must have gotten lucky (or maybe because it was a red eye) but there were blankies on every seat on my last flight (American). Both legs too!

At the Prague train station we had to pay a rather scary looking women to use the very dirty bathrooms

I can't wait until we have to do the same in American airports.

Hah!

I fly A LOT and can at least report that pillow and blankets are still free on Delta! For now, that is. They are a bit hard to come by in coach at times, always there in First. And often there are extras in the overheads in first, so grab it as you pass!
