an ATM or debit card.

1. Does your daughter have it.

2. Did she leave it at the Coach outlet?

My kids don't have debit cards.

You're not weird, neither of my parents have one either. In fact, my mother in law doesn't even have a checking account, she pays fro everything in cash.

Now me, on the other hand, I would be lost without my debit card. I love the convenience of it, and I don't like to carry cash because it seems to disappear faster in the cash form than when I use my card.

I don't have a debit or ATM card either. You need money for those ;)) However, I plan on getting one once I get my first job after I graduate :$$):

Wait...what was the second part of the question? I was stuck on the fact that DF actually just INVITED us to call him weird.

This made me laugh pretty loudly!

My parents don't have one, either. I do pay cash for everything, so I solely use mine to take out money from the ATM every week or two. I could go to the bank for the same thing, but it's often hard for me to get away from work to get to the bank. I also find having an ATM card to be extremely handy when travelling internationally since using the ATM yields the best exchange rates.

Interesting. I never knew that about the exchange rate at an atm. Of course, it's not like I'm a huge international traveler.

Paying cash makes it so much easier to budget! For sept, I kept a seperate envelope to keep my grocery money in and only went a bit over budget...October, I used my debit card again and was appauled when I checked my online statement. I think I spent 4X as much!

DF,

I'm not standing behind you at the register if you pay for your groceries with a check. That you don't pull out and start writing on UNTIL the clerk has rung up all of your goods.

SO doesn't have one either...he pays for things by cash or Amex

Yup, totally weird! :o Well, you asked!

My parents and my parents-in-law don't either.

I have one but I only use it a few times a year to get cash out of the ATM (which I could do by walking into the bank, except my bank closes at 5:00 and I can't get there that early). I use a credit card for all purchases because I like getting the miles, and I like keeping everything documented in one place. When I spend with cash, it all flies away and I have no idea where it's gone! Haha. I can check my credit card every day online and make sure we're staying on budget. Of course, it only works if you pay the balance off every month.

No debit card - fees are ridiculous!

ATM - yes (no fees) for those little cash expenditures.

I rarely use cash unless of course someone offers me a discount to pay in cash, otherwise, I use my reward credit cards

My Mom has one, but she doesnt know how to use it :praise: I would be totally lost without my debit card, I never have cash and never use cash!

I don't have a card. When I lost my job I closed out my personal checking account and just reliy on our joint account I am a pinhead and very forgetful and never write anything down and I just KNEW that account would be a mess in a week so I simply write a check at the beginning of the week and use cash as I go. It made me really see how much I spend on things like tea at Strbucks, magazines, breakfasts and lunches with friends, etc.

I thought everyone used a debit card! I don't even know how to get cash out at the bank without it to be honest. I heard someone talk about making a check out to cash, but I don't get that concept. I guess I'm of the ATM generation.

no,my wife does the grocery shopping with a cc.

I don't have a credit card, just a Visa branded ATM one. My parents do not have even that, and hand me cash to make purchases for them on my card.

Weird, yes, but we knew that a long time ago. I never carry cash. I use debit card (what's with the fees? I don't have any fees?) or CC everywhere. Pay the CC off every month and use the air miles to travel around the world :naughty:

DF: may I welcome you into the very large "Weird" Club....

I have neither a debit or an ATM (and I have money).

I usually pay cash for the vast majority of purchases when I am out and about (and this can be hundreds of dollars - planned).

I occasionally charge on a CC.

I typically go to the bank every 2-3 weeks for cash.

My checkbook is for paying bills and almost never leaves the house.

Have a great day,

Perry

No, not at all. My parents both have one but absolutely NEVER use them!

I don't have my own. I borrow DH's card on Saturdays to buy gas and anything else I might need. I know my limits and I'm just not meant to have card in hand.

I have a debit that I only use when someone doesn't accept an Amex. I work/commute in a pretty dangerous area and usually carry no more than $10 on me which I save for emergencies only. The Amex gets paid at the end of the month and I usually earn about $50 a month in rewards dollars, they pay me to use the card!

my mother in law doesn't have one. Her checking acct is one of those OLD accts that have a passbook and needs to be stamped when she visits the bank.
