I have looked at a lot of prices here online. Many have GIA certs. THey are also listed with different types of cut: ideal, excellent, premium, vg, etc. Since they don''t currently list cut quality on these certs, are they basing it off of the polish, symmetry and table/depth percents? Or are they doing their own appraisals on the cut?

I know that I need to get an Idealscope, but with some people, I have spoken to them on the phone first to see if it is worth my time. So, I was curious how these diamonds will get the cut rating. I looked in some tutorials forums, but didn''t find a definite answer.

The dealers are setting their own standards for what is ideal, what is excellent and what is merely premium. In many cases, they will be using the AGS grading scale while in others they will have something completely different. These terms are not presicely used. Any good dealer should be happy to explain to you any term that they are using as well as what their source was for the original data. If they can''t (or won''t) explain it to you, assume that they don''t understand either and proceed accordingly.
