Hi everybody. This is my first post, but Im a long time viewer. Im considering the purchase of a small diamond for my gf (soon to be fiance). Lucky for me she wants a small stone and I love the look of the Vatche Royal Crown white gold setting. I''ve done the HCA and get VG,EX,EX,VG with a score of 0.9 but was just wondering if anybody notices anything dramatically wrong with this stone. Thanks for the help!

When I plugged the numbers you provided into the HCA, I got a score of 3.0 VG/VG/G/VG. A 41 degree pavillion combined with a 35.3 degree crown, while still AGS0 proportions, is flirting with the steep/deep combo that is often talked about and said to result in decreased light return. There's a chance the stone is beautiful, but it is a lot less likely than if the stone's HCA score was below 2. With the size stone you're looking for, there shouldn't be any shortage of amazingly beautiful cut stones, so I would keep looking a little longer, and not feel pressured to compromise any on the stone's cut. if you've seen the stone, and it's beautiful, than that overrides what the HCA says, as it is just a guide, and your eyes are the final determination,s o I say go for it. But if you haven't seen the stone, I'd be a little wary of it's optical properties. God luck in your search.

Now that I've tried HCA again Im getting the same score as you. I must have entered in something wrong on my first attempt because I know there are much better stones out there. thanks for the reply and picking up my mistake.
