I''m new to the diamond world and just began looking for the right stone. I found one that I really like, but I''m not sure if the price is right. I could really use some good advice.
color: I
clarity: vs2
0.71 CT Ideal cut (round)
They gave me a price of $3,300. Is this a good deal?
I VS2 stones with GIA certificates and verfiably ideal cuts are going for no more than $2500 online right now. Your stone's cut is unknown (I can call anything "ideal," it's just a word), and we don't even know if it is certified. If it's uncertified, certified by a less reputable lab, or with a less than ideal cut, it should be discounted off the $2500.
You can get a stone that is two grades better in color and three grades in clarity, a bonafied "hearts and arrows" well-known brand of diamond, in the same size, for the same price! 0.71 G VVS1 SuperbCert
So unless your stone comes with the meaning of life, it is NOT a good deal!
You should be able to get a 0.85-0.90 GIA or AGS certed I VS2 stone with a good to ideal cut for your budget. Or go for better color, etc. . . . But whatever you do, don't pay $3300 for a 0.71 I VS2 stone!
