am I crazy to pair a F stone with H for earring?

I have a F/Si1 stone already. Could not find a good stone in the price range with similar quality. Now I am thinking to get a H color ACA. Is the color difference too much?

Yes! I would get the same color, personally, or one color different at the most. They'll get more diamonds in. Just wait for a better match.

Plus, look at Expert Selection and Premium Select for an earring stone if you haven't already. (or is the F stone an ACA?)

Go to a local store and try on an H next to an F and see what you think.

The F is an ES. Not ACA. I thought ACA can make up the color difference. I did go to local store, but feel hard to tell under their strong light. :? I might too picky on numbers. Another G stone has 1.7 HCA, but 3 VG only 1 excellent.

A practical point: the earrings are on opposite sides of your head, so perhaps a two-grade difference would be OK. Mine are one grade different, an E and an F, and even side by side you can't tell. I think two grades should be fine, but for peace of mind perhaps wait for a better match.

Are your ears a perfect colour match? I think it would make little difference being only 2 grades apart.

I'm fairly confident that unless you went to a PS convention, 99.9% of anyone and everyone wouldn't be able to tell/notice.

Nobody will notice during the wearing.
But I wouldn´t go below G colour anyway.

No, an ACA absolutely will not make up the color difference from an ES. Expert Selection stones are usually ideal cut anyway. I probably wouldn't spend the money to get an ACA match to go with an ES, though. But stick to F-G. If you'll tell us the weight and diameter of the stone, maybe we can help you look.

it wouldn't bother me... you have a whole foot between them and the color difference is probably only noticeable if you have them beside one another and are looking up close.

Viewing will be from face-up only, with a great deal of distance and other colours between the stones. It's not like H is yellow... I don't think anyone casually looking will notice, and even people who are looking at them carefully won't be able to tell if you are wearing them (side by side might be different) and it's especially difficult if you don't tell them they are different colours! ;) :) Good luck! II'd just make sure the H is well cut to face up white and not hold onto its colour.

I have G/SI1 ,1.20 ctw studs ,one is ACA and the other is ES .no matter how close I look ,I can never tell the difference between them .both are sparkly and beautiful .

think from a distance and the two stones being apart, the only thing that people notice would be the sparkles. think 2 grades diff is not that much of a problem. I would make sure the dimensions and cut quality are very close though!

jeweln, I like your pair and the price!

Thank all for your input. Really appreciate PSers for your opinion and comments. I gave up the H VS2 ACA. There was a G/SI1 ACA yesterday on WF. It's gone now. I just don't like its 3 vg for HCA. Think I will settle on a 0.59 G/SI2. Can't see much difference with my eyes.

You can also get the other diamond from BGD. Brian Gavin is the inventor of the ACA line. He left WF to start his own company 3 years ago, and I don't think an average person would be able to tell a BGD signature and an ACA apart, especially on different ears. I would be completely comfortable with one WF stone and one BGD in a pair of studs.

It really is not necessary to run the HCA on any AGS Ideal cut stone! I make sure the diameter of the stones are close (overlapping measurements) and that the tables are within 1% of each other, but as long as they are both ideal cut, you are fine!!!

+1

In my (limited) experience, I find that people are much more likely to examine an e-ring up close than studs. If someone were to walk up to you, park their face 3 inches in front of yours and move side to side looking at the two stones to compare them while you wear them... well I think that'd be a little odd, no?
