Vendor is checking this SI2 out for me in hand. The characteristics show a "cavity". Why can't I find the cavities location on the plot? I'm concused. Blew it up 400x? Where is it?
Actually- I don't see the "cloud" on the plot that is listed first either (circle with dashes)??? WTH?
Good morning,
Ok, I see the location each of you poonted out. The "edge" or wraps the edge. Do any of you know if a prong cpud be placed over the spot to help protect it? Looks extremely small on the 2ct diagram unless it is just that it is turning the edge (plus near last listed on the GIA)
Cavities are almost always on the girdle and I'm with JDDN that it's the feature you're seeing at 12:00.
For the benefit of other readers, GIA is actually very cooperative in answering questions lite this about understanding their own reports. Call 'em up. It's part of what they were paid for.
Can it be pronged? Ask your setter. Usually it's not a problem with one qualifier. They can only orient it to deliberately cover or not cover one thing. The rest is luck. If, for example, you've got a girdle inscription that you would like to be visible, you may need to choose one or the other.
