Has anyone ever heard or done business with them? I''''m interested in buying a Rolex for my fiance and they seem pretty legit.

If you know anything about them, please let me know. I''''m getting a little hesitant about buying a watch over the internet...

Thanks
Kate

You should check to see if the seller is an authorized Rolex dealer. If not, I would hesitate as there are a lot of counterfeits in the market.

Further if the watch has diamonds you should ask if the diamond face or bezel is a OEM Rolex face or bezel.

Ask to see the warranty papers, and see if for getting service on it is through a foreign company or another name other than Rolex on 5th Ave in NY. If so I would suggest you avoid purcasing this type of watch, as you may have difficulty getting factory authorized service in the US for it.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kate:

Try Bill Pearlman, at Pearlmans Jewelers in Battle Creek, MI. He is the best to work with and pricing is great. He carries a very large ROLEX inventory.

His number is 888-811-1529.

Happy hunting.

I’m with Rockdoc. If we’re talking about a new Rolex, buy from an authorized dealer. Period. If you’re in doubt, call Rolex and ask them but it’s usually not all that difficult. The authorized dealers work really hard to earn this distinction and they are proud as hell of it. They don’t keep it a secret and the pretenders get the wrath of Rolex if they claim to be authorized when they aren’t.

If you’re looking at a used or vintage watch, it’s more complicated than you might think. There is a huge amount of counterfeits, counterfeit parts and various combinations real and fake elements. This can have a tremendous effect on both the value and even the legality of the transaction. Get it checked out by an expert.

So Feydakin, let me get this straight, if I am on vacation in anywhere, USA and I decide to buy a ROLEX, the local dealer should refuse to sell it to me since I don't reside in his/her region?

I have purchased a few Rolex's from different authorized dealers and I will continue to go where I get the best service first and the best price second.

I can't comment as to how Pearlmans handles their ROLEX sales. My recommendation comes as a result of extraordinary service from them in the past. The Pearlmans can run their business as they see fit, I have just been very happy with that service.

As a consumer, you should have a choice. A choice to buy Rolex, Harley Davidson, whatever, from the vendor that will provide the best service, price etc.

BeaudryBabe,

Faydakin aka Steve is correct. We, as a authorized Rolex jeweler, are not allowed to sell over the internet or take calls from other Rolex markets for Rolex sales. All Rolex sales must originate in store or from existing customers. There are some pictures of my store on my website and the Rolex trademark is on the canopy to identify us with carrying their brand but the watch has to be sold as Steve has stated.

Love your name :)

I would buy a new Rolex only from an Auth Dealer. I''d buy a used Rolex from a reseller whom I know, or a dealer, period. For that amount of $ I want it to be fresh, new, and with a Rolex warranty. Besides the dealer will regulate it to be within spec and pressure test it. Many dealers have Rolex trained techs who can service the watch.

I''d rather foster a good dealer/client relationship than save a few bucks on the net. What if the watch you get is damaged, doesn''t perform properly, or is bogus? Too big a risk to me....

I may sound foolish, but I have another question. Everyone in my family has a rolex. We all bought them from the same authorized dealer. My mom took my fathers SS daytona to a watch specialist the other day, who told her that said authorized dealer, really screwed with my fathers watch. They replaced it with the wrong face, etc... They also did this to his tri-gold presidential watch. How does Rolex know which of their watches was sold through an authorized dealer or not. When I bring my rolex to be ''fixed up'' ( i don''t know the technical term, but I have a yachtmaster, and like it to be reset) every year, I am always charged. What exactly does the Rolex warranty do?

Also, I bought the watch from alan furman. I have a 10 day full refund. I am a little bit nervous, and want to see the watch in person. If I am not happy with it, back to Alan Furman it goes... I''ll keep you posted.

The SS Daytona, especially if it is vintage, really should be restored to the original configuration. It can be worth a lot of $.

Rolex will NOT leave any non-original parts on its watches. If you send a "frankenwatch" to a Rolex Service Center they will remove the aftermarket parts, and replace them with the proper dial, hands, bezel, etc and charge you for the new parts. You won'' get the bogus parts back either. I would suggest highly that you send these watches to the RSC in either Beverly Hills, Dallas, or NYC for service and restoration to original. What is the vintage of the Daytona? Is it the Zenith movement or the new Rolex 4130?

Kateh,

If a authorized Rolex dealer messed your parents watches up I would take them back to the dealer and have them send them to a Rolex service center to be corrected. To find out if they are actually a Rolex dealer simply call them and ask or call Rolex 1-212-758-7700. A new and factory warranty covers all material and workmanship problems. The watches are regulated and water sealed. You should not have to do this every year also. Mechanical watches are not a precise as a quartz watch and you can simply reset the watch.

Rolex also keeps records of serial numbers on all of their watches so they know who sold them. Also bare in mind that if something goes wrong with a non authorized Rolex sale the perceived cost savings will wipe out the cost of acquiring the piece. The price for a good clean 2ed hand Rolex in two tone or steel is about the cost of a factory overhaul in difference.

Good Luck!
