Hi i was wondering is it true for the above? i have been looking for a pair of earrings and had stumbled some AGS branded diamonds. i would say they are very beautiful stones if compared to GIA certified ones.

the Retailer made a comparison with a same colour diamond and size and i could see the AGS stands out better then GIA stone.

By the Way any one here from singapore heard of AMORE diamonds?
Well i am going back tomorrow to have a look again. will update you guys on it and yes your expert help much appreciated

Amore diamonds...are they from Soo Kee jewellery ??

PS: I got myself a AGS Ideal000 1.007 Carat H VS1 diamond.... They are very very nice looking...way better looking than most of the GIAs i come across in Singapore..(Personal Opinion)

Use the IdealSCOPE...it works wonders during my search for my diamond.. it instantly seperate the duds from the good ones...

Hi,

I think you are actually talking about the reports and not the diamonds. The AGS report has more cutting information on it than the GIA but that doesn't make the diamonds any better. I do like the AGS reports but I am biased...we are one of ten AGS ICGA appraisal firms in the USA! AGS is the only appraisal organization that requires its ICGA firms not to buy or sell, very important in the appraisal business, thus avoiding bias'.

If you were comparing just the AGS against the GIA diamond grading report, yes, the AGS report is more complete.
If you are comparing diamonds graded by both labs and one is an AGS Ideal and the other is a GIA ex/ex with a Sarin report that reads AGS-0. They will probably look the same.
The AGS lab turns out reports on diamonds that are less than ideal and the reports reflect that information. Some of the diamond dealers have not yet picked up on the money saving idea that an ideal cut diamond if it is graded by the AGS lab will take less time to be graded than GIA and the cost is less. Also, you don't need a sarin machine like is necessary with a GIA stone.

Diamond dealers with super make stones use AGS because the stone will grade a "0". If the stone looks real nice, but may not grade a "0", they use GIA. Makes perfect sense...

hmmmm you guys are right on this ..AGS do give out more detail then a GIA. On a AGS there seems to have a mini sarin report but not as detail as those actual sarin report that the retailer was showing me .... i think it was a 1.08 F colour forgot about the clarity.....got the honour to see the ring set in a tiffany setting in 18k/w ...beautiful stone i must say. i was shock that it was sold for 8050US. Anyway there was another G colour 1.08 vs1 going for 6790US. i was telling myself should have gotten this instead of the 1.13 that i hv bought.

Anyway i had zoom in on a pair of earrings 0.57 and 0.56 Branded H&A E colour VS1 best price given to me was 4350US. Is it a good buy. Forgot to bring back the Stats that i had written down, left it in the office.

had a peak using the ideal scope he provided and they are as red as an apple

now i think i only look at diamonds with AGS. By the way the retail shop is located in Chinatown in Singapore... didn't know there are so many jewellery shops there..have to thank my mum on this.

anyway will keep you guys posted.
