Hi knowledgeable people,

I am a total noob and have started to educate myself using pricescope. I catch on fairly quickly but am stumped by something.
Today I went to a brick and mortar jeweler who showed me the AGS Diamond Quality Report for a particular stone and it has no Cut rating. What I mean by that is that it says the following:

Finish:
- Polish (excellent)
- symmetry (ideal)

Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Carat: 2.02

I am inclined to think that the "Symmetry" heading covers off the Cut rating? The reason I am confused is that if you go on the AGS website, the "Template" for a Diamond Quality Report has a "Cut Rating" heading, which this report does not.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. (Also, I plugged it into the HCA and it seems to have a bit of haywire proportions.)

AGS0010260709

Any comments would be greatly appreciate.

Love the site.

Call them up. That’s a ‘diamond quality report ‘ and the details included in this format changed in 2009. It used to not have a cut grade, now it has one using their ‘gold’ grading system (which is completely different from the ‘platinum’ grading system). Yeah, it’s convoluted.

yap, old diamond quality report (DQR), before the end of 2008, will not have cut grade. Vendor can still request for the old style report without cut grade in 2009, should be phased out in 2010. This stone will not get an AGS ideal in proportion cut grade system of a Gold/DQR report which is probably why the vendor requested the old DQR format.

Symmetry is not the same as Cut grade, it is a part of the cut grade.
