There''s a number of reputable vendors who can sell you a well-cut diamond. See the PS vendor list. . .https://www.pricescope.com/dealers.asp
What is your budget and which diamond shape are you interested in?
Your best bet is to pick out a loose stone and then pick out a setting and have the stone set. Most of us here have purchased our stones seperately and have been very pleased with the results.
I bought mine at a B&M in the downtown jewelery district. Online is good but I was doing research by looking at actual stones, felt really comfortable at this one store, they showed me two stones that I fell in love with and teh price was fair so I decided to just buy it instead of keep looking (I was also kind of under a time crunch).
