What do you think about this?

.91 E SI1 EGL Cert.
6.32 x 6.31 x 3.72
Depth 58.7
Table 62
Crown 13%
Pavillion 43%
polish & symmetry: Very Good
no culet, no fluor.

I thought these were going to be bad proportions, but I put this into HCA and it''s a 2.1
which isn''t great, but seems me to be fantastic for the price:

$3100, set in platinum stuller solstice 4 prong.
I found this in the diamond district in NY, so I''m skeptical.

I was looking for a full carat ideal cut I or J, but the spread is so good and it looks so white and it''s so cheap that I''m really tempted. Will I regret it?

CurlyM-C,
It looks like the pavilon and crown angles were rounded, or were they exactly 13.0 degrees and 43.0 degrees? It is more accurate to have the decimal readings too as they can affect the final HCA results.

The HCA prefers and rates stones higher when they are shallow.

Since you''re in NYC, I would suggest a trip to the following to see what the other stones look like that are cut well. Then you can reconcile the pricing benefit.

If you do decide on this stone, request it to be regraded by AGS or GIA to make sure the quality is comparable. Some EGL reports are fine, but some aren''t as exacting as they should be.

The problem with relying primarilly on numbers is that it isn''t always relevant to the stones light performance.

The closest merchants that have stones in NY

David S Diamonds
GoodOldGold - Jonathan
Excell Diamonds ( superbcert ) Barry or Judah
Ideal Diamonds - Megan

They all have websites which match their company names. Most participate on Pricescope.

They also all have the B Scope too.
