does this sound like a good diamond to you? I am a novice-- it looks beautiful to me, but I''d like some feedback.

Also, what would you expect to pay for such a ring? Gracias

How much does this cost? I would never buy a clarity enhanced diamond but if it's really cheap and you're on a tight budget I can see why you would.

Why would you never buy one? Just curious. It was under 3,000

If jewelry is all about look - this is it. You will find about 1000 posts on this forum about what a BAD investment diamodns are. This is a good one

Placed in a nice setting would look as good and feal at least five times as good as your average 1.5, H-SI2 ideal.

Clarity enhancement is about "eye clean" - if it worked, good for the stone and for you...

I've heard that under certain conditions, the "enhacement" can be damaged ...do your homework, esp. if you'r eone of the people who wears your diamond to do everything and it takes a lot of wear and tear.

You might want to take it to an independent appraiser and check that there's nothing that will affect the durability of the stone (giant cracks or something), but it looks like a nice cut, and if it's eye-clean and beautiful to you, go for it. Some fracture-filling materials turn funny colours over the long term because of UV, so you probabably want to check that there's a guarentee on it, or at least a) where to get it fixed and b) how cheap it is to fix.

(Yes, I think jewelery is about how it looks. I also think heat treatment is A-OK, as long as it's disclosed.)

bo_sox24,
buying a clarity enchanced stone is like buying a salvage title car. i guess if it doesn't bother you, it's okay. i buy rare u.s coins, when i am offer a coin that has been repaired, i pass ,a problem coin is a problem coin.

I'm wary of EGL certs, since they have been know to be off--I almost fell for one before PS enlightened me. I'm also not fond of laser drilled stones. It's like repairing a dent in your car door by cutting the dent out. Then again, getting a 1.58 ct. stone for <$3,000 does sound enticing. If what you care most about is getting the biggest bang for your buck, this might be for you. If you are as fatally picky as I am, then you end up like me...buying a stone that could pay for that stone, and buy a new car to boot. It all depends on what your priorities are, and how much you really want to spend.

You have to remember, before the diamond was enhanced it was probably an I2. The process that a diamond goes through can be very harsh on your stone. It is now weaker and fragile.
