Hi everyone,
I've learned so much on these boards just through lurking over the past months and I'm really hoping you might be able to offer some advice on the last piece of the engagement ring puzzle.
We have decided on an oval diamond, ideally around 1 carat - our hope was to ask Good Old Gold to source it as they seem to really have an eye for them. The fact they provide a lot of additional info AND videos has pretty much swung it for us - we do not live in the U.S. so we really need an online vendor who can be our eyes "on the ground" as it were.
I would like a setting like this Ritani Bella Vita: http://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/three-stone-halo-diamond-band-engagement-ring-in-18kt-white-gold/4612
Basically a halo around the main stone, small sidestones. I'd also like it to be super delicate, possibly also a slightly "blooming" or hidden halo, possibly also with a 20-degree tilt. What's I'm going for is a subtle halo shimmer around the main stone.
In an ideal world I'd ask VC - seen so many examples of his amazing work.
Unfortunately I doubt our budget would stretch to that - we're aiming for $8000 total, including both stone and setting. Im leaning towards a white gold or possibly rose gold setting. Unlikely to be platinum I think.
What do you think of asking GOG to do the setting for me? Has anyone had a setting made from their bench? They would make the most practical sense, but I'm nervous as I haven't seen any examples of their work and I've seen some halos that have not been to my taste from other (B&M) jewelers in the UK. What about asking Ritani to do it? It wouldn't have the possible tilt or "blooming" option, but those might be worth sacrificing. Can anyone recommend anyone else that does great halos/precision work that we might at the same time be able to afford?
Thanks in advance, any advice would be very gratefully received!
