I went looking in the NYC diamond district today. I am interesting in a pear shaped stone with a budget of around $11,000. I saw a 4 stones at 2 locations (total of 8) and for my price range, liked one with the following dimensions:

measurements 11.29X6.53X3.76
ct - 1.76
clarity - SI1
color - F
depth 57.6%
table 51%
polish and symmetry are good
fluorescence - medium blue

it was within my price range, but i saw another vendor and they suggested for the same price, a better fit would be going down to a G color but getting one with florescence graded as NONE.

does anyone agree or disagree. Does anyone have any opinions on the depth or table on a pear? or any other suggestions in general.

Cut is average and price is good.
Flu. is good when diamond has color(blue flu)like H-I because make it less colorless.
I would go with non flu if its same price and same cut.

I can't help with with the cut of a pear by I'm a big fan of blue fluorescence, i just love how it looks. the price should reflect it though b/c it's not highly sought after most of the time. Do a search on blue fluorescence and read some threads. there are lots of PS members who love it and actually look for stones that have it.

The chances that medium blue fluorescence will affect the way the stone looks, except under UV light, are small and none.

, it might possibly under heavily UV-containing lighting conditions (not common) make the apparent color of the stone look like an E, but I doubt it.
