Looking for a 2-2.1 carat RB diamond for an e-ring.

Our local jeweler found us this (after looking at several others over the past few months):

I saw it in person, it is beautiful! The jeweler does not have an ideal scope or hearts and arrows scope for viewing. I entered the data into the Holloway Cut Advisor, and it scores 2.6 "worth buying if the price is right" which I found really disappointing! I'm no expert, but this diamond is gorgeous in person. So my question is, am I being ripped off at $27,900 Canadian dollars?? (approx $25,600 USD) Is there a better diamond at this price? How serious should I take the HCA? It's actually more than I want to spend, but it looked so great when I saw it.

Can anyone recommend a better diamond in this range? (G, VS2, 2-2.1, Excellent cut, great optical performance, for around $25k USD)

Hi I looked at the pricescope buying tool (at the top of Rockytalk list topics page) for 2ct G VS2 (AGS0/GIA xxx) and the range was 23.5k to 34k USD so it seems you are at the good end of the range. The stone is what's termed here a 60/60 (approx. 60 table and depth). Maybe that's what the HCA doesn't particularly like. I'm sure others, more knowledgeable than I, will chime in, but it seems to me that you have a stone which is on paper in the excellent (per GIA) range AND MOST IMPORTANTLY your eyes tell you it's a beautiful stone. Let's see what others say but remember YOU have seen this stone and YOU think it's great

That's about the right price.

Ideal cut 2 ct G VS2 is closer to about 30K.

If you don't want to spend that much, consider looking at H and SI1.

OP, I also have a 60/60 stone that was "dinged" by the HCA (@ 2.7), but it's still beautiful! It sounds like your jeweler is giving you a fair price on that stone, so if you like it, I say go for it!

I would look at it in all kinds of lighting, direct sunlight, shaded outdoor light, fluorescent lighting (not jewelry store lighting), lamping lighting, etc. Then if you love how it looks, I would go for it. It's in line with the price range. And it's gonna be your eyes looking at it (and your fiancé's/significant other) so those are the opinions that matter. Just wondering if your dealer has a good upgrade program...

That one looks good if it is eyeclean.

That last one is AGS0 with AGS0 light performance and "A Cut Above", my guess its a safe all around performer. The others were 60/60 proportions, did you decide to go a different way? Nothing wrong with Excellent cut 60/60s, you just have to verify that style meets your expectations. This last one is very nice. How much is this one going for, if I may ask (since cost has been associated with options)?

That 2.062 is $26,475 USD (Pricescope price ... how do I get this price?), which is roughly $28,700 Canadian. So the price is better. I'm getting to the point of just wanting to pick one online. I feel that the American prices are better, and I'm finding more selection online. Zoara said they can do the ring for $3975 US ($4300 Canadian), while our local jeweler said it would be $5760 Canadian. The setting I want is the Victor Canera 4 prong pave ring, with the only change being that the pave diamonds on the band to go 7/8 the way around, leaving only a small space for sizing if needed:

I know VC has a diamond source service, I am keeping in touch with them also, however, I'm not sure if it's worth "paying for the name."
