Love the site, great to have a resource like this available, I've learned a ton reading so far. I'm looking to buy a radiant around a carat, but am trying to do it for under $2500. I realize that I'm going to have to sacrifice in areas to be able to do this, and I was thinking that a J stone with great clarity and cut would be a good way to find a nice looking stone at a good value.

Here is a JA comparison of two stones I selected that I believe fit the bill, http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds-search/?View=4&Tab=3&Comparison=1337523,1337524

However, I am apprehensive that these two stones will look rather warm in a white gold setting. Depth is a little on the high side for both as well. The ratios are both between 1.1-1.2, and while I would prefer closer to 1, this is not a deal breaker for me.

Just looking for opinions on either of those stones or if anyone has better options given my price range I'd love to hear them! Thanks in advance!

I noticed that the excellent cut stone's GIA report is dated 2007. Does this mean it was likely a trade in? Also, judging by the pictures alone, I think the excellent cut has a slightly yellower hue than the VG cut. Is this true?

Hi. The link isn't working.

That is a beauty for the price, I think I may request ASET images for that one as well. Thank you EB! Out of curiosity, why is that stone $350 more than the ones I linked to in my previous post? It has the advantage of a higher color grade but less clarity and a lower cut than one of them. Is color simply the biggest driver in the price of diamonds like these? I'm still wondering why the two I linked are so cheap, when I look at comparable diamonds on BN and others they seem much lower. I keep thinking there is a catch.

No prob! As far as I know, the cut grades given by the websites to fancy cuts are generally meaningless since as you can see on the certs, even GIA doesn't grade the radiants' cuts. Pending ASET, judging by the photos, the .91 I VS2 looks to be a better cut, and a VS2 is a pretty safe clarity grade in brilliant cuts.

Edit: As far as pricing, color and clarity are part of it, but there are other factors as well. Maybe a vendor will see this and explain further. :))
