Hi Guys,

First post so go easy on me :)

I had a browse at a local jewellery shop that is having a 40% off floor stock sale this week and found a ring that I am sure my girlfriend will love. I always love to get a good deal so started doing some research on buying and found this forum.

The ring I found is a Pave style she would wear on her right hand.

1.25ct TDW Colour:J Clarity: SSV2 Set int 18K White gold $6995rrp = $4197 on the 40% off sale

This is a little more that I was intending to spend but to be honest I had no idea where to start and what is available at what price point.

I have had a look through Bluenile, jamesallen and whiteflash that all seem well regarded online but have not see the style I am looking for. I came across LOGR on ebay and am quite blown away by the low prices

In comparison to my local jeweller a similar style ring but with claimed better colour/clarity diamonds and much higher TDW at LOGR is less money

This is the ring I am considering purchasing from LOGR:

4.37ct TDW Colour: F Clarity VVS Set int 18K White gold LOGR claimed Market RRP: $14,980 LOGR RRP: $5,696 = $3,987.20 on the 30% off sale

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VVS-F-4-37ctw-Diamond-18K-White-Gold-Pave-Women-Men-Engagement-Wedding-Band-Ring-/370561074476

So just after advise is my local shop trying to sell me something well overpriced? Is the ring from LOGR too good to be true? Really torn as to what to do, I do have a few months up my sleeve but both of the rings I am looking at are only on sale for a few more days...

Thanks in advance!

Dan

Re: Advice for a noob - Anniversary present for my girlfrien

Been reading and trying to absorb as much info from this forum its amazing!

I think I am going to purchase the LOGR ring and take it straight to an appraiser as it seems LOGR are very happy to return/refund if there are any problems. Hopefully I get an experts opinion and everything is peachy!

It is going to kill me sitting on this thing till our anniversary in september

Re: Advice for a noob - Anniversary present for my girlfrien

There have been PSer that have purchased rings from LOGR and have been very happy with them. I've heard of a few disappointments recently though because it appears that their workmanship may have declined somewhat, but for the most part I hear good things. Just something to keep in mind....most PS who have purchased semi mounts from LOGR have set colored stones or diamonds that they don't wear on a daily basis. I believe that the consensus is that while the rings are a good mix of value and workmanship, they are still not up to snuff for everyday engagement ring type wear. So keep in mind that you will want to be sure to insure your ring against any mishaps and have its prongs checked by a good jeweler frequently, and also consider that in the future you may need to change settings. Congrats on your upcoming anniversary!
