i discovered pricescope only a week ago... i''ve learned so much from this forum already that i figured i''d ask for advice.

after all the good reviews i''ve read, i''m considering a custom solitaire engagement ring from whiteflash, and i think we''d buy the diamond there as well. we''re working with a budget of around 3500 for an ACA round brilliant, and have been looking at G-I color and VS1-2 though I wouldn''t mind SI as long as it''s eye clean. WF seems to have a number of options in this range, but the thing i wonder about is which inclusions have more of an effect on the diamond''s performance. can anyone offer tips for choosing a nice, eye-clean SI stone? are there particular inclusions to avoid? specific stone recommendations from the WF site would also be helpful.

thanks

round?

$3375 wire prices; confirm eye clean.

best...

Yeah, it''s tough shopping online for eye-clean stones -- you''d have to ask them to confirm it is "eye-clean," but I suppose even that is based on some degree of subjectivity.

But otherwise, you look to be on the right track.

It is difficult to say which types of inclusions to avoid as there are so many variables. Some say to avoid feathers in an SI clarity which get close to the surface or girdle as these may be a durabilty issue, but an expert can advise if considering a diamond with this type of inclusion and more often than not, there is no problem. Apart from this, it depends on whether a diamond is eyeclean or not and your definitions of 'eyecleanliness!' Also I have read if clouds are the grade setting inclusion in an SI clarity then that might affect brilliance, but overall working with respected PS vendors you will get the best guidance and advice anyway, along with a superb selection of diamonds. Clouds which are not grade setters or the comment clouds not shown generally mean no problem.
