I've been reading this forum for several months and have learned alot from the various posts left by many of you. The biggest takeaway has been to focus on cut first and foremost! Also, I've decided clarity is last on my list of priorities. My trouble is deciding between size and color.
I plan on asking my girlfriend to marry me in a couple of months and we have discussed the type of diamond and ring she would most desire. She has made it clear that her preference would be a princess cut diamond (1.5 - 2.0 ct. range) in a solitaire band (I'm likely going with the Legato Sleek Line from Whiteflash). Other than that, she has no opinion when it comes to color or clarity - at least she has never really paid attention to it.
I know that my girlfriend has tried on a 1.7, 2.0, and 2.3 ct diamond at Tiffany's (she knows I'm not buying from there), and, to no surprise, she liked the larger stones best but made it clear she would love whatever I gave her because it would have come from me. Fortunately, my girlfriend's ring size is a 5 which does help make whatever diamond I decide look a little larger.
I have decided I want to purchase an ACA diamond from Whiteflash (actually looked at a few there in person) and have put the G stone below on hold. That being said, I'm also now considering three other stones and would appreciate any opinions that could be offered up based on the choices below. As you can probably tell, I'm torn on whether to stay a bit smaller and go with a G, go larger and get an I, or make a compromise and go with the H. I guess my biggest fear is whether the I would be "too yellow". Also, if I do go with one of the I's, which one should I select? Finally, the H stone is basically at the top of my budget, but seems like a possibly decent compromise. My plan is for the wedding ring to be a princess channel with G and H diamonds.
Any opinions thay can be given would be much appreciated! Thanks!
