I was concerned about the K color but after seeing the video of the actual diamond and gawking at all the pics of the K color diamonds in the "show me the bling" section, I was convinced that I would be happy with this final upgrade. That's an arrows view. We need an idealscope image.

If that checks out. You need to see it in person before setting and see what you think of it yourself.

I assume you do have a return policy, right? K color diamonds will have a tint. The pictures don't always show it. I think you do need to see it to decide, but just make sure it is a full refund for any reason policy.

Hi, DS!

Yes, I am upgrading from a vendor who is well-known on this forum. It's my 3rd upgrade with them and they have a return policy for any reason. They say it faces up really white (the fluorescence helps - no cloudiness/milky haze) and is definitely "a keeper." So I think I'm ready to go and if the color bothers me, I'm sure they will make it right.

Looks wonderful. Regarding color, I recommend setting it in plain metals without accent diamonds. For me, that really improves my enjoyment of my own diamond that is in this color range. Pairing it with accent diamonds causes a contrast between the smaller stones and the larger more tinted diamond that I do not enjoy. But on its own, I am personally happy with my K color stone!

It'll be a real firecracker! I like the cut, assuming no obstruction issues from the shallowish pav and crown.

Dreamer D, thanks for commenting on the color. It's always reassuring to actually hear from someone who has a diamond in that color range. I am planning on reusing my current setting which is the one in my avatar but I think the melee is so small that it won't be too much of a contrast.

Laila, I hope it will be a firecracker since I feel that it's my final upgrade. As soon as I get the idealscope, I will post and hopefully you' and all the other experts will come back to comment.

I finally got the idealscope on this diamond. I see what corresponds to the "feather" on the GIA report at about 5 o'clock. I was ready to buy this diamond but now I'm concerned because I remember reading somewhere that a "feather" is really a euphemism for a crack. The vendor did mention that there were needles and a feather but did not say that the feather was significant/affected durability/etc.

If the feather is completely internal then it should not be an issue. You can trust a reliable vendor or have an independent appraisal done to set your mind at ease.

Dreamer, it's a 2.15 carat and also a fireball. If I could afford to keep it and buy the upgrade, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Just a small update...the vendor confirmed that the feather is entirely internal and does not reach the surface. I'll be buying it today!

I Finally Got the Upgrade!

Wanted to thank Msop04, Dreamer, and Gypsy for their advice regarding my upgrade. I got the ring a good 2 weeks ago but finally able to post some pics now. I was concerned with the "K" color at first, but it sparkles like crazy and I can only see an ever so slight tint and only at certain angles. I guess no one is allowed that close to scrutinize my ring anyway so I am very happy with this upgrade. And at 3 carat - that's it for me....no more upgrades
