A weekend in Mexico City ....

I''m going to Mexico City for the weekend with my husband: it''ll be my first time in Mexico, and I have no idea what where to go, what to do, eat, or buy. Do any of you have any tips?

definitely go the archeology museum. do the touristy ride a bus thing and get on and off as much as you wish. a weekend is not long enough to take advantage of this!

Casa Azul, frida kahlo''s house, is a must see. also, check out the nearby cathedral, a short walking distance to Casa Azul.

i loved mexico city! i think its a great weekend treat.

Get ready for the congestion...as in people everywhere.

One of my favorite restaurants there is Villa Maria in Polanco. You can tell the cab driver to take you there. Absolutely delcious. Try the Tamarindo Margarita!!!

Go to the Zocalo. Lots of shopping and that is where the original palace is "Palacio Real" If possible, try to be there between 4-5. I believe that is when they take down the flag. An awesome, awesome site to see. There is also a restaurant right across from the palace that serves great coffee and is just cool to be inside of. There''s also La Zona Rosa which is ok but if you are missing home, there are some American bars and more shopping!

oddly, didn''t make it to the archeology site...the museum ate up a lot of hours. i was only there for a weekend. don''t underestimate how interesting the place is. i wish i''d known about the flag coming down in the afternoon: it is one HUGE flag. i also didn''t get into the cathedral at the zocalo. there is just oo much to see in a weekend. however, frida''s place was a must for me and i''d do it again.

and i wish i''d gone to the modern art museum which is near the archeology museum.
