So I was just thinking, and dreaming, of, what else, diamonds. I thought of this question though, and I wonder what you diamond experts would do. Just imagine if someday Tiffany & Co. said for one day they''d match all internet vendors on pricing of equal diamonds (carat weight, color, clarity, etc.). Would you guys pass on the Tiffany''s diamond because you think ACA''a are more beautiful and better cut? Or do you think you''d go with the Tiffany''s diamond just because it has the Tiffany name. Are Tiffany''s dimaonds more beatiful? Or would going with a Tiffany diamond be a step down from an ACA in terms of cut?

I was just curious because I know a lot of us wouldn''t even consider Tiffany''s because of the price. But.........if the price was the same, what would you do???

This is only if Tiffany's offered it for a limited time, but I would buy Tiffany's for sure. Ever watch "Antique's Roadshow,?" Ever see a vintage Tiffany go for a lot more? That is why I would chose the Tiffany's.

For value to the consumer ACA; I can't comment on what the two look like because I haven't both side by side. Both are beautiful

I am by no means an expert but I will answer ......

When I first started looking for my ring I thought I wanted a Tiffany ring. They have such a huge brand name I thought it would be the best thing I could buy.

After spending a few months round Pricescope I realised that having a beautifully cut diamond was far more important to me than wearing a designer brand.

I am about to have the ring of my dreams made and the fact that it will have the best diamond I can get for my money - AND its custom made only for me - makes it extra special.

Well, That would be a no brainer for me. I''d go for the Tiffany label. I''m certainly not an expert...especially ACAs or the like. I suspect lots would disagree with me.

But I''m sure the quality of a Tiffany diamond would suit me just fine, and I really do think there is "value" in a signed piece...easier to liquidate, and perhaps an increase in value for the next generation...

I would take the Tiffany only because the name would give it more value in the future...I am not in any way saying that the Tiffany diamond is better than any other fine quality diamond.

Not your question at all, but same price, I would definitely go for a custom, bc then everyone will be wearing Tiffany.

I said only if the Tiffany''s pricing was for a limited time. If it weren''t I would want to see the stones side by side.

I think for me personally I''d go with the Tiffany. There''s just something about that Tiffany name. And you guys are right about it needing to be a one day thing, because EVERYONE would be getting them if it wasn''t. I wonder if that''s part of the appeal of Tiffany''s is that you really don''t see them everyday. Hmmmm........it''s fun to dream!!

I wouldn't bother with the tiffany plain solitaire because the diamonds aren't as pretty as others I've seen from vendors here and the solitaire itself isn't that special...and I'm not a blue box type of girl.

However, if I wanted a legacy style ring and there was no markup...oooooh, I'd SO DO IT!!! I really loved this ring when I tried it on and I thought the setting was done really really well. The center stone is also really cool since it's an asscher looking cushion and I've never seen anything like it from other vendors.
