Hi all,

I am a complete newbie, but I have been doing my research and I think I have nice stone picked out in terms of dimensions, angle, etc. However, before I pull the trigger I want to get a second opinion from some of you experts. My main concern is whether the color "H" will be a factor on this particulat stone when turned face up.

Here are the specifics:
Ct: 2.03
Shape: Round
Clarity: VS1
Cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent

Depth %: 61.6
Table %: 55
Crown Angle %: 33.7
Pavilion Depth %: 42.9
Pavilion Angle %: 40.7
Girdle: Medium
Cutlet: None

Thanks in advance!

You may notice some color in an H stone at this size. It will be white, just not icy white.

Yep - unless you''re trained in noticing subtleties in colour (jewellery, paints...) it''s just gonna look white. If she has a friend with a D and they put their rings side by side hers will be tinted, but by itself... go for it, no question!

I have a 2.03, VS1, H, ex/ex/ex RB and I think it is very, very white. There are some lights where I think I may see a little warmth but for the most part it faces up perfectly white.

If you compare it side by side it will look warmer... not yellow, but not blazing white. I like the appearance of G/H color diamonds. They look real

But at the same time very crisp.

Honestly, I don''t think you''ll see anything but a beautifully white-facing stone. I have friends who wear I and J stones in the 2+ carat range, and they are gorgeous stones and don''t show their body color face-up at all.

Don't forget that we see our diamonds from all angles, not just face up.

FWIW, I am accustomed to wearing a GIA-graded 2.26 ct F asscher.
Recently we got a GIA-graded 1.34 ct H Octavia asscher.
Both are in tension settings which reveal a 100% side view of the stones - which mercilessly reveals body color.
Because they are both aschers they reveal body color more than a round would (though the Octavia with its smaller facets may be more forgiving of body color than my conventional asscher.)

I definitely notice the extra color in the H in some lighting at some angles.
If an E, F or G was available at the time I would have happily paid the extra $$$ for better color.

I like high color and clarity.
But since you are not me, what you like, and/or feel is worth the $$$, is another matter entirely.

Go out and see diamonds in these colors to find your own personal comfort zone.

Kenny, I like you how keep it real.

This is what ultimately impelled me to go up in color to a high G from a K. Face up is actually rarely seen when you personally wear a diamond.

True dat!
This is why tension setting rock!

I think I'll invent a new kind of setting.
The head part that holds the diamond will have sensors and motors.
It will rotate so the diamond is always face up to your eyes.

It needs to be programmable. I want it to angle itself at the observer when I go to my 10yr hs reunion!

Hi Scott

The diamond has potential but an Idealscope image would be helpful if you can get one for this stone, is it for sale online or from a brick and mortar store?

An H colour of this size should still be very white, not an icy white as much if you compared to a higher colour stone but still very white, so I don''t think you need to be concerned. If you are, see if you can view some AGS0 Peerless from Jareds if there is one nearby, that should be very helpful.

Newbie and first time poster. I am looking at a very similar stone (F) color and SI1. For comparison purposes, I am wondering what is the price quoted to you for this diamond.

Thanks,
Sassmo

Wow! I can''t believe all of the replies. Thank you all.

Given that my girlfriend doesn''t know muchabout diamonds and none of her friends have a diamond anywhere close to the size and quality of this stone, I think she would not know the difference. Plus if I don''t tell her it is an "H" she will never know. In all honestly I think she wouldn''t even know what "H" stands for! As long as the diamond is eye clean and not tinted I am happy. I wish I could afford a "D" but I can''t in this size.

Funny how us guys sometimes know more about diamonds than the ladies, since we are the ones that agonize for so long over which diamond to buy for the engagement ring.

Plus, if I give it to here an she says "That''s not a colorless diamond" i am going to snatch it back and get a new girl! Just kidding...

I think she will be *very* happy. I had a K color diamond for a period of time, and it looked much more tinted than your diamond will. Yet I still only got compliments and people ere shocked at its color grade. Or didn''t have clue what it meant

So I think you will be fine.

Come back and tell us what she thinks!
