These are the closest I can find to each other and best for my price I think. I need to select something asap in hopes I get it by Christmas. No aset available on any of them.

Thanks slg, that is a VERY nice stone, but I cannot go over $2000 w/setting. The setting is going to cost me $250.

I'm leaning towards the .81 GIA.
 
the 0.81 is pretty deep, and slightly off square. can you get a picture?
 
No, the best thing I can do is order 2, and have the guy from Abazias look them over for me and tell me which one is best.

I'd like to get the one you posted, but I'm already going almost $1000 more than I originally planned. And going w/a smaller diamond.
 
OK, sounds good. you have some more ASETs from JA coming right?

have you considered a round diamond? a 0.65 carat round diamond has a diameter of 5.5 mm and would be in your budget. but if she likes princess then nothing else will do :)
 
Haha...yeah. I did ask her opinion on round as it also hides color a bit better right?

She said she was "ok" w/round, but you know what that really means. :)

Yes, hopefully JA gets those asets to me soon, but after thinking about how much I want to spend, I think one of those is out anyway. The one that was $1900.

The whole new ring deal started when we stopped at Kay (where we got her original ring) and they said they'd give us $1000 in trade in on a 1 ct I I2 ring they had on sale for $1999. Well after learning a bit more, I told her let's look around. We saw some we liked at other stores that I believe were not even graded at all, or store graded. They looked nice, and they were I I1/I2, so I think (and hope) that a GIA J, or EGL H will be what we were looking for...
 
what size ring does she have now?
 
haha I meant carat size. i don't think that I2 diamond would look good, glad you came to PS, I know you have had a frustrating search but you get what you pay for and a 1 carat diamond for $1200...not so good
 
Lol.. Oh sorry!

Her current ring is a .5, 3 stone. I think the center stone is .25? And we bought it at Kay 5 years ago, so I'm sure they are I I2 stones maybe but since they are so small can't really tell anything bad?

I got the JA asets.. will post in a bit...

which one of those was out of budget?
 
The first one. It's $1900.

The second is $1750.
 
OK, the second one doesn't look bad, it's not an ideal cut but for the price/size I think it might be a good option, especially since with the other diamonds you wouldn't have pictures or ASETs so you would really be buying blind.

ETA did you see if JA has any 14k settings that would be in budget?
 
Yes, I've looked through them all. There isn't anything because all their settings are 18k.

I agree on not buying blind by choosing the second stone. Aset looks better than the other I chose last week. Just have to decide if I want to go w/lower J color, or take a chance on the other GIA I VS2 w/a deep cut, or the EGL H VS2..... Would like to decide today and hope it's shipped out by Tues/Weds at latest... :confused:
 
did you call and ask about a 14k setting? J color should be OK, if what you have now is I color from Kay's. It may be cheaper to get the setting from JA even though it is over budget because another store would charge you a setting fee to mount the diamond
 
Just called. All they sell is 18k. Cheapest ring through them similar to what I'm getting at Abazias is $400. So $160 more.

So would you rule out the GIA I VS2 then? Deep cut.

I can probably have Abazias order the JA stone and the .81 GIA, or .81 H VS2 EGL and have him compare.
 
 
Yes, that Tiffany style is the style I was buying from Abazias..

I think this is what I'm going to do though..

From seeing the results on the JA stones, it seems it's semi rare to get a great great ASET like the one's you see on White Flash, which is also why they are more expensive.

I think I'm going to ask the guy from Abazias if he can bring in this stone:

Thanks for those links slg47..

I've already sent my request to Abazias though... He said he will get those ordered Mon in hopes he gets them Tues and maybe if one is a good stone, send it out Thurs.. One good thing, is he said he would still honor the old price of $240 on the setting so that helps.

Hopefully one of those stones works well and this torture will end :lol:
