About the HCA. Should I rule out a diamond that is above the 0-2 range, say between 2-3? Will there be that much of a difference between one that rates between that range and one slightly above?

About a round diamond dimensions. I would like to get the biggest looking to carat weight. I''ve seen the chart that a (2ct=8.2; 2.15=8.4; 2.25=8.6) but have not really seen a round ideal with those dimensions. I''ve been veering more towards the 2.15 and up due to this, but find myself with less of a selection and the price point is at my max at these levels for an I,SI1. Any input would be great.

Between 2-3, you need pictures and an Ideal Scope picture.

Do not worry too much about the diameter being the same as what a chart says. Post the pictures/grading report here for comments.

Thanks. So then it''s questionable at the 2-3 level?

The diameter is of concern to me because size is of importance above the 2ct weight. Ideally I would buy a 2.5ct, but it''s above my price point for the quality I want. So if I was to look at an average 2ct at say Tiffany''s or anywhere else for that matter would I be looking at an average of 8mm since I haven''t really found a 2ct ideal above 8.10mm. This way if I can find something above 8mm I would hopefully get a bigger looking stone.

You need to look for stones with a depth of 60-61 so you can get a better diameter. Or at least stay above 62.

Ditto. And ditto the chart, if you used the MM conversion chart here, one of the experts cautions it is on the optimistic side. Aim to get the best cut diamond you can and the spread or face up size will be in the right region. Look at the whole proportions of the diamond as with these sizes any small size differences won''t be that noticeable - if at all - anyway.
