I received my Malaya garnet ring from Brian Gavin diamonds today. It was a stone I bought from Gene back in March. I had it set in a sort of David Yurman inspired setting that woobug has her oval diamond set in. (two twisted shanks) The workmanship is excellent. I had told them I wanted 18K white gold and when it came it was 14K. I also had asked Lesley if I should go up in size a bit because while the bands are narrow, there are two of them so I thought that might make the ring fit a bit more snug. She didn''t think I needed to go up from my usual size. The ring is definitely tighter than I would like. I''m sure they will make it right, but I will have to send it back to have this rectified. It must have taken the stone 10 days to get there via registered mail and then a month for the setting Ugh! I was very much looking forward to wearing the ring. Just a mini vent I guess. The setting really is lovely though.

Do you have any pics of the ring somewhere? (Or of the malaya)
 
If you do a search, my thread showing a picture of the stone is "My Malaya garnet". I don''t have a picture of the setting at the moment. If you''re curious you can search for woobug and oval diamond? or something to that effect. I think she got it last year.
 
Sorry to hear you have to return it for sizing. It sounds lovely. I can''t wait to see it.

Do you have any shots of the ring? it sounds beautiful and I am sure BGD will make it right. I would love to see the final product.
 
Yes, that''s my stone. Thanks for posting it akmiss. I don''t have any shots of the ring. Maybe I''ll try to take some tomorrow. I don''t even know how they could size it, since the shank is "twisted". Plus, it was supposed to be 18K and it''s not, so it seems they would have to remake the entire ring...

ah, I''m sorry cind - that is surprising for BGD, they are usually so spot on.
Would you be ok with having it in 14k and having the extra $ refunded, or do you definately want 18K?
They will have to remake the whole ring for sure in that case.

What a gorgeous stone that is!! I am sorry for the mix up, am sure they will make it right... I can''t wait to see it, sounds lovely. I am a big fan of that setting...

I''m sorry Cind! I''m sure they will make it right because of who they are and their extremely great customer service, but it is very disappointing when you have such anticipation to not have everything just so. ((HUGS)).

Aww, I can understand why it would be disappointing after anticipating its arrival! I''m sure it will be perfect when it''s remade, though.

You need something to take your mind off it. Another stone maybe?
 
Do your fingers swell up in the summer? I am having a real problem wearing any of my rings at the minute. I am sure they will fix the problem but I just wanted to throw the heat aspect in there.

I might have been OK with the 14K, but there is the sizing issue. (darn!)

My fingers do swell in the heat of the summer. But I live in Ohio and the weather has been quite cool lately. (in fact we''re all wondering where summer is) All my other rings fit fine so I think it''s this one unfortunately.

That's such a bummer. This happens to me every time I order food in a restaurant. I always want it a certain way, and they always find a way to mess it up. However, this is worse because it's your jewelry, and $$$ and time you don't need to spend. I hope they fix it for you.
