Both look lovely but still have some elements of the bow tie. Have you considered August Vintage Opulence Oval line? They have natural and lab mined ovals cut to perfection for optimal performance. Also they have holiday promotion going on. Link below

+1 to Rpb's comments!

Quite a few options at AVInc at the moment :) although you could always ask Rhino if he's got anything else coming in soon that might suit!

This is an awesome G SI2 - virtually all the inclusions are under the crown facets so nowhere near visible as they can be in the table!

Unfortunately the August vintage opulence ovals are out of my price range. I am trying to do an upgrade with the vendor I bought from 6 years ago. They will give me the full purchase price of my current.

I unfortunately can't afford one of the August vintage ovals. Any thoughts on which of the two posted looks better? Thanks

That is a shame, but you are not the first person in that situation.

May I check if BN is your current vendor?

Or is your vendor able to source stones that are on BN? (And other retailers' sites?)

If you are happy to post your budget and your preferences/requirements in term of colour/clarity/carat (both weight and spread/measurements) we maybe able to find some alternatives for your consideration.

In terms of the two you have listed, my entirely personal opinion is that the BN stone has 'good' inclusions for an SI-graded stone (as twinning wisps can be less visually obvious that crystals etc.) and is not unattractive, although it does have some bow-tie effect and it also seems to 'tilt-window' (go see-through) when the stone is rotated. This windowing seems fairly common in ovals, though, from what I have seen.

The second stone is difficult to assess on an equivalent basis because the video setup (lighting etc.) is different. It does look eye-clean to me, and the facet patterning does have some potential bow-tie but is not unattractive. However, there does not seem to be many 'bright white light' reflections coming off the facets. This may be due to the lighting setup or it may be due to the cut of the stone, it is hard to say.

@OoohShiny Bluenile is not the vendor. It Is Lumera diamonds. They don't offer videos, so I have been finding the same stones listed on other sites and then getting the videos. I wish I could afford an opulence oval! I am leaning towards the 2nd stone and the video is not as good with the lighting so it is probably not the best representation.

If I was strictly going off these two I would go with the 8 main, the BN is a 4 main and has a bow tie which i know you want to avoid.

This thread shows the what the difference is between the ovals with examples

Thanks that is the one I'm leaning towards. Is it an 8 main off set? In the video it looks that way but wasn't sure.

@KKJohnson I had my vendor compare those 2 stones in person and they said they had equal brillance but the 8 main stone had less bowtie. Do you think I should purchase it?

The one in the video looks to me to have some bow-tie effect.

If you post your budget and preferences for colour/clarity/carat weight, we might be able to find you options that could be called in.

@OoohShiny up to S11 eye clean, D-F color, carat weight .85-.95. My current is .78 7.54x5.01 so looking for something a little longer and fatter.

Sorry for the slow reply, haven't been at a screen much this weekend!

A few that caught my eye on JA are as follows - I believe a lot of JA listings are virtual stock, so hopefully they are available to you if you like one of them! (I've not had a chance to check spread TBH.)

I caveat these with the fact I've not looked at many ovals... lol, and would welcome others' input!

Quite chunky faceting and look like there's not a prominent bow-tie? Quite interesting in that the long ends also have strong facet structure, which is not always the case.

Chunky facets! (4-main pavilion, I think?) But same size as your current... lol

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.80-carat-d-color-vs2-clarity-sku-3829003
Same size as your current, maybe smaller? but seems to not have too much 'mush'.

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/0.81-carat-e-color-vs2-clarity-sku-2867636
Not a big change in size and perhaps too much 'mush'? Also windows quite badly at tilt angles.

I'm struggling to find a substantial upgrade in size, even dropping to a G, so you may need to go down in colour or get lucky with a spread-y stone!

I like the new bluenile one as well and the two .80 ones that OhShiny found.
