I have many but one that I take to heart every single day is:

Happiness is a choice and everything else is a matter of perspective.

Can't resist adding one more I feel is critical.

Never make someone a priority who only makes you an option.

Everything on this bookmark, but really the top statement is my favorite, and it got me through some really rough stuff. I've seen some terrible things, but really who hasn't? Life can be so hard. My mom became alcoholic late in life, in her 50s and basically killed herself with it two years ago. The ten years prior to this were SO hard, as we were once the best of friends, and I watched her disappear and die for a decade.

I finally found my way to Alanon, about two years before she passed away, where I found this bookmark, and some serenity. I think everyone should go to Alanon, just for peace of mind, whether you have an alcoholic or not! It's a program for living life on life's terms and I love it.

"Just for today, I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle all of my problems at once. I can do something for 12 hours that would appall me, if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime."

PS - great topic! I like and agree with everything posted above:love:

One of my favorites is

I've shortened this to simply "Be Kind".

Always smile, be cheerful and ask people how they are.

The interest and time you take to speak to somebody, might just be the difference that tilts the scale to happiness for them that day.

Practice random act of kindness every day. You just don’t know if you smile, friendly word or simple kindness might change the life of a stranger.
You can let the woman with the fractious toddler go ahead of you in the supermarket queue, you can give up your seat on public transport to anyone, young or old, who needs it more than you do. You can hold a door open for another, you can not rush or push in a crowd, you can always say please and thank you to people.
And open your eyes to the world, if you see a situation, own it.
That dog running loose on the road, go after it. That person struggling on stairs with bags or a stroller, help them. That person dropping something, pick it up for them. Find something, hand it in. A spill in the supermarket aisle, report it.
You perform an act of kindness and if the recipient “half protest” you simply smile and tell them to “pay it forward” another time for someone else.

@Bron357 completely agree with all of the above. The number of lost dogs we have run after and then tracked down their owners omg. It's not funny though how many people lose their dogs in our beach neighborhood but that's another story. ::)

I always say when I see myself aging...” It’s better then the alternative!” I don’t know who said it but I say it a lot!

Put your mask on first...I say this to myself daily..
I have recently adopted this way of thinking after having my my mom who doesn’t appreciate me...live with me the last ten years...my adult autistic son who I love dearly but I have to use behavior mod every second I’m with him..and I get tired sometimes...and a grouchy adult son who is needy..and I was putting myself last...I realized I can’t help everyone if I don’t take care of myself first..which I have trouble with but I try.

Figure out what you love to do, and then figure out how to get someone to pay you to do it.

"There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” Ernest Hemingway
