I'd like to buy some stones but have hesitated because I feel overwhelmed with where to begin in finding someone to set the stone into a ring. Can anyone make any Recommendations?

Do you have any inspiration rings you can share? Do you have an elaborate setting in mind? A pave halo? Or a solitaire? And do you have a budget in mind? This makes it easier to react on your question.

You will also find a list of recommended stone and setting vendors on top of the Colored Stones section.

You may find some stunning ring ideas here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/fabulous-cs-rings-under-1250-dollar.211930/

Thank you! I have a blank slate as far as ideas go but this is a great starting point for me to look at the vendors and the recommended thread. Thank you.

Do you live near a chinatown with lots of asian jewellers?

Reason I ask is they tend to carry a lot of settings so you can go and have a browse and see how much things cost and see the settings for yourself in real life.

If this is your first foray into stones and you don't mind rounds, I'd suggest a round first! I find rounds much easier to set as there are lots of settings available for them and most jewellers don't balk at setting a round.

Ooh forgot to make another suggestion!

I have bought four stones and commissioned four rings from a vendor called Jeff Davies

http://jefferydavies.com/

He cuts very beautiful stones and has set them for me without any dramas. I have been extremely happy with every single ring he's done for me. He's very nice and responsive to enquiries.

Also search for him as Jeff Davies Gems Jewellery on Facebook as this is where he lists his newest stones.

I would look at stones first to get an idea of their colors to see what you prefer. It's fun and you get an idea of the stones you really like, plus what is affordable. Then you can start looking specifically at those stones to buy. Go to the List of Vendors here and start looking at their sites. Have fun and don't stress!
