Hi

Firstly great forum, its been a real help in starting to understand the basics.

I am from the UK and looking for a round diamond engagement ring, having been into numerous jewellers I have settled for getting one online which is actually quite scary!

Generally looking to spend around £7k excluding the setting but inclusive of VAT. You will see below from my search list that this can be a bit fluid!

The setting will be a thin platinum band - still working out exactly which type but my better half doesn't like busy bands / rings so the diamond really needs to be the star of the show.

So far I have come up with the following shortlist on my own:

https://www.bluenile.com/uk/diamond-details/LD11982432 - £7,872

https://www.bluenile.com/uk/diamond-details/LD11702784 - £7,350

https://www.bluenile.com/uk/diamond-details/LD11988942 - £7,072

https://www.bluenile.com/uk/diamond-details/LD11152154 - £6,999

My question is, can you find me a better diamond for the same or less money? Should I be looking at slightly lower specs to get a larger diamond for the money?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

Have you run each of those diamonds' specs through the HCA tool (under the Tools tab at the top of the forum) in order to check they score under 2 and therefore have crown and pavilion angles that work well together?

What would be your preferred colour/clarity/carat size requirements? We may be able to find other options :)

Without running these through HCA (which you should do as @OoohShiny said), I think you are potentially limiting yourself by only looking at such high clarity stones. You should be safe with VS2 or even SI1 (as many times SI1 can be eye-clean, and VS2 is almost always eye-clean). Unless there are cultural reasons for needing such high clarity, you can likely increase your options/size of the stone by lowering clarity requirements.
