Dear PS Community,

I enjoy reading you everyday and contribute very little to the group, but today I found a ring I am very interrested in.

What do you think about this stone/ ring ?

I asked for a certificate copy and will post it as soon I get it.

Info I have so far: 18K gold ring, Paraïba tourmaline 5.91ct

Starting auction price is 3KUSD. Is it a fair price in your opinion?

Thank you for your kind input.

Are comfortable with the large window in the center. My paraiba has a window too but on a much smaller scale (though my stone is much smaller too). Also, it does not seem to have that trademark glow but that could just be the pictures. I would ask for more pics to be sure.

Lastly, is the origin important to you? Brazil holds the original mine and it considered the top of the food chain. You can also get a copper bearing tourmaline with a Mozambique origin.

Here's an example of one with an obvious glow.

This one looks nice too.

And this one...

I forgot to say I would pass on this one. It's large to be sure but it just doesn't meet the standards for what a paraiba should be...at least in my opinion.

I think it will be a little lackluster in person and you may be disappointed. If you're going to spend 3K on a paraiba, I'd get a smaller but nicer quality one. Trust me, the glow is what makes it worthwhile.

Agree with @elle_71125 that the only thing going for the stone is size. The colour isn't there. Cut is not that great and the clarity isn't great either. For me (just my taste), I'd rather a smaller but better quality stone.

Thank you Elle for taking the Time to answer my questions.
I really appreciate your input especially with concrete EBay alternative.
I was just wondering your new DK ring. This is a true perfection! Congratulation for this piece of Art.

Thank you Chrono for your answer. Indeed I realize this is indeed a very watery color, far from PS Standard.

I was impressed when I first saw this ring and lost a bit of common sens ;-)

A 5.9ct Paraiba with the "glow" and a cert would be worth far more than $3K, maybe as much as $30-50K.

Personally I would pass:
The stone looks rather pale in the pic, it has a large/ prominent window and does not have (a lot of) glow.
Agree with @elle_71125 to spend your budget on a smaller stone with higher quality
