Need help with design ideas for a .42 carat marquise diamond

The stone is a .42 carat F VVS2 certified by IGI. While marquise is far from my favorite shape, I picked the stone up for $165. I figured at that price, I could find something fun to do with it. It's been sitting around for a few months now and all I can come up with is a super simple bezel setting on a very thin shank as an everyday right hand ring or a bezel set east west pendant.

I tend to wear my jewelry everyday and already have a .4 carat round brilliant pendant, so I'm worried making this into a pendant would be a bit pointless.

Looking to keep the price under $1000 for whatever I end up doing.

Does anyone have any good ideas for a small marquise like this? It's a pretty stone and I'd hate to see it just sit in a box forever.

It's kind of trendy but a delicate cluster ring or mixed shape band (check out bario neal) could be nice and i think should be doable for less than 1k

I'd do a halo with a plain shank. You can definitely have an Ebay vendor make one for a few hundred dollars, or a custom halo by someone like Northway Studio on Etsy (that's just one vendor I remember with a $1k custom halo). I think James Allen also has some affordable settings that are higher quality than the Ebay vendor settings, but less so than going fully custom. I have given my mom a small marquise and a bigger marquise, both halo'd, and I just love them. I want to borrow one next time I go home :lol-2::twisted2:.

When you mentioned you have a pendant already I thought perhaps y0ou could make it into a two diamond necklace, one on top of the other. And the marquise could drop second and be detachable according to you mood. For instance:

http://www.thejewelleryeditor.com/j...mond-jewellery-new-drops-of-light-collection/. (the first necklace but marquise instead of pear)

and both images above where the marquise could be removed at your will.

I like the ideas posted above about marquise. I am going to add some more ideas I saw. It seems marquise is back in fashion so quite a few more unique settings:

Etsy is great! There are some setting designers that come up that look okay: Petragems, IVYandROSE, love rings design.....

If you like and get good vibe from reviews may be able to do a setting cheaper than a local jeweller for instance.
