So I’ve been earring-less for several weeks. And with my small (read: zero) budget, there were slim pickings. But I found these in an auction, and crossed my fingers (and toes, and eyeballs, etc) and bid and won. Been dying to share but wanted them in my greedy little fingers first, just in case they were as awful as the online pics. Surprise! They’re great. 9ct rose gold, all original, and the 4.5mm paste (glass?) is good enough for now, and will be replaced eventually with some semi-precious-something-or-others, probably amethyst. Sorry no ear shots yet.

Behold ye, my new studs! I am dancing for joy today!

And the ‘gang’ all together:

Thanks for looking!

Love them on you just as they are. Beautiful.

I don't care for the amethyst in the setting but the tourmaline is nice. The tourmaline is complementary in color to the setting vs the amethyst which IMO clashes.

Love these... I would leave the stones as they are, white & neutral.

Beautiful! It will be fun taking your time and deciding what gemstone to select for the insides and then being on the hunt for the perfect ones. And I looooove your new earrings' screw backs.

Years ago I had a diamond stud earring (non screw back) fall out and my ex-husband go so angry with me for losing my earring (yeah, he was an @rsehole). It was such a scaring experience that now I only wear screw backs. And they can be difficult to find. So you found some winners!

@RunningwithScissors I’m sorry to hear that you were treated that way - I hope you straightened up, walked to the front door and shouted

NEXT, PLEASE

There’s so much love in the world! Glad you didn’t settle for less!

Updated to show these, now set with OECs. The local jeweller is backed up with orders and said it would take two weeks before I could get them back. So I stared at them for a while and then in a fit of pique, set them myself.

Technically these stones are smaller than the paste but it doesn’t matter really. For me it’s all about the settings.

Thanks!
It helps when someone else has already cut the seats into the prongs.

I guess but I wouldn't be brave enough to attempt that even with the seats cut so you get majore respect here.

Love this look and I can't believe you set them yourself! Would you mind giving the stats on your oec's? They are beautiful!

Thanks! They’re definitely OECs, but have good symmetry and are less top-heavy than I expect old cuts to be. They are 4mm each, weigh a total of .55, estimated as H/I color, one of them has fluorescence and the other has a well-hidden and microscopic carbon, estimated clarity VS and SI respectively.

Thanks! I love them and I especially like how the setting really accents them!

I hear lots of people on here say they got something at auction. Do these tend to be online auctions and if so, are they platforms other than ebay? I'd love to expand my search lol

For diamonds I can’t recommend eBay or other online auctions because of the all-too-common inaccuracies, whether intentional or not.

Pawn shops, however, have been lucky for many PSers. They are not for the faint of heart. Do you have a good one near you?

If you give us details (budget and size desired, etc) we can help you find a pair.

I'm thinking something 4mm in diameter or larger (preferably oec) though I dont think I'd need anything larger than 1 karat (at least not much larger). I'm open to a range of colors and clarity can depend on types and locations of inclusions. I think diameter and sparkle matter most (and we all know clarity affects sparkle). Basically, I'm looking for something that speaks to me but i never have any idea what that's going to be until I see it. I've seen a few pieces on here that have done that for me but alas, they werent for sale and perhaps would have been out of my budget if they had been. I'm also interested in value (or a good deal), what you get for the money. I could see myself spending 2-3k depending on the specs, the piece, and how I feel about it (especially if it's a good deal).
