Brian Gavin Six Prong Fishtail Pavé

Hi guys,

I KNOW I have seen real pictures of THIS setting on Pricescope, but I cannot for the life of me find them now! I have tried various different search terms with no luck, even tried a Google search instead. I cannot find it. I can even visualise one of the pictures of it hanging beautifully off a branch... Argh!

Anyone have this setting or know someone who has this setting so I can see what the fishtail pavé looks like??? It's the nicest version of fishtail pavé I've seen but I can't really tell from the website pictures what it looks like in real life.

Ooh, ooh, you may be right, I was using more complex search terms - I had tried various forms of Brian Gavin and BGD rather than just Gavin. That's the right type of pavé (different head but more interested in the pavé) although the photos of the actual real ring are quite blurry

So, I fed my engagement ring to the garbage disposal on accident, so we bought me the same fishtail pave wedding band as a replacement for now, so I took some top shots of it for you. There is very little visible metal from the top, the pictures exaggerate it. Are you thinking of rose gold? A white metal will just blend in even more and look like part of the diamonds because of how little there is and how the metal reflects the light from the melee. Trust me, it is exaggerated in pics, just like the donut is. I can’t tell how many pics I posted, sorry if there is like 6 of them!

Thank you guys. My husband wants to upgrade the diamond (the diamond survived the garbage disposal incident!) now that it is loose and we will put the new diamond in the same setting when we get the chance. I never told myself I should have never gotten that setting, I think BGD did a great job at designing it.

Oh my gosh @JrJ you are amazing, thank you so much for taking the time to take those photos for me, I'm so grateful!!! It's really interesting isn't it - the close up photos suggest a lot of metal visible from the top but the far away photos you can't really tell. I would want it in platinum, although a different style head. I'm actually currently in the process of designing a custom setting and the jeweller's showed me their CAD version of essentially this type of pavé. I really wanted to see what it looked like in a real ring. The BGD ring is the only place I have seen it elsewhere. It's important to me for as little metal to show from the top as possible, whilst still not having overhanging diamonds. But I really like this pavé, it's really pretty and gives a bit of texture from the side of the band too.

I'm so sorry your waste disposal chewed up your e-ring. That sounds terrible! However it's super reassuring that given the choice you would get the same setting - goes to show what you think of it!!! What is your current diamond? What do you think your husband and you will upgrade to? At least that's something super exciting to come out of a bit of a disaster!!!

Yeah I'm aware that skill levels very. I'm pondering a more basic shared prong setting (my other preference). Or there's more standard split prong fishtail. I don't know. We'll see. Ha ha basically I don't know what the right decision for me is yet. Work in progress.
